In short: Scenic, hilly and uneven at times, tougher than anticipated!
In full: Set in private grounds and totally traffic free paths and forest tracks. Very uneven terrain at times - 'ploughed' fields, forestry tracks and tree rooted single track. Not too many spectators as in private grounds just a group at the start/finish.

In short: Enjoyable despite the extremely slippery clay in places
In full: I'm not a big fan of x-country but was tempted by this race as it was short, near where I live and in a Country Park I used to work at. About a third of the multiple lap route is on an offroad cycle track with this year slippery wet clay to slip on and to nick your trainers - it was hilarious! The rest of the course is on undualting meadow which gives you time to recover for the next round of clay madness. In drier conditions a decent time could be had but this year was a bit of fun! A well organised race in a scenic traffic free setting - recommended.

In short: Welcoming well organised race in undulating countryside with a short steep hill at 8km to test you!
In full: An undulating course through rural Hampshire lanes with very little traffic. One short sharp shock of a hill just past 8km point but thoughfully with drinks at the top to cool you down. Not really a course for a PB - although I was less than a minute behind mine! Beginners may want to walk in places but there is no shame in that!Very well organised with friendly smiling marshalls and organisers. Good clean facilities for changing / showers - other race organisers please note! Not a huge field at about 200 racers but big enough to make it feel like an event rather than a trianing session. Not too big to make it feel like a circus! This is the first time I have done this race and I will do it again - very well done Tadley Runners!

In short: Well organised flat and fast course with excellent PB potential
In full: A flat course with 2 laps of the more scenic parts of Gosport as well as residential areas. Definate PB potential this year with near perfect weather conditions. Some good crowd support dotted around the route. Reasonable value and course good for beginners at this distance. Very well marshalled and policed.Well done Gosport Road Runner! Shame the showers were freezing cold - I will have to speed up next year to finish before all the hot waters gone! Nevertheless an very enjoyable race!

In short: Scenic route with a killer hill at 7 miles - not for absolute beginners!
In full: On the whole a fairly scenic route north of grim Lordshill. One very nasty hill at 7 miles limits scopes for PB's and beginners may wish to consider a different race. A small field with very little atmosphere - more like a training run. Most of the field seemed to be club runners. But all the marshals were very encouraging - probably the best marshals I have come across in my two years of racing - well done to them their support is appraciated!Well organised and moderately priced.

In short: Flat course wtih PB potnetial if you dont get stuck in the last wave!
In full: I had high hopes of a PB despite the weather but starting in the last wave I spent the first three miles stuck behind all the slow runners and walkers from the previous two waves - and weaved around the masses for the next seven!!! Must have run 11 miles I reckon! Please if you are going to walk do not do it four abreast hand in hand in the middle of the road. Some people try and run!!!! The organsisers should use the waves to group those with similar predicted finsih times - it's not rocket science surely!!!! Other than lat course not as scenic as made out and could do with changing areas at the finish - especially useful in the monsoon conditions experienced this year.

In short: A pleasant undulating course in rural Hampshire
In full: A warm day for an undulating race! Finish area in playing fields much better than last years in road finish. And the changing rooms were much cleaner this year - and empty!Well done the organisers!

In short: Scenic course through the open heaths of the New Forest. Undulating course with some real hills - be warned!
In full: Beautiful New Forest scenery which I did n't fully appreciate due to the warm sunny still conditions - take water with you round the route if you can to supplement the water stations! Very well organised and good value.Well done New Milton! Beginners may struggle. Some sharing with 2 way traffic so need to keep alert right up until the end. I did n't have any problems with irate drivers but I am not surpried if some were upset - the runner in a yellow vest deliberately running in front of cars to obstruct them, you are an idiot and give our sport a bad image - grow up!

In short: 10 miles of Woodland paths and open Heath - shame about the drinking water!
In full: A reasonably pituresque root encompassing a bit of road through open heath and gravel tracks through woodland - pleasant enough on the eye! No real hills just some gentle undulation but exposed to wind on the open heath. If not too hot or too windy definite PB potential and easy enough for beginners. Atmosphere pleasant enough at start and finish but once on the road there are no spectators to cheer you on - the marshalls did there best (well done to you all!) - so feels a bit like a training run. With an entry of over a 1000 for the race there should of been more toilet facilites - runners who did n't have time to relieve themselves before the start of the race (because of the long queues) seemed to be nipping off into the bushes throughout the race. Why no marguees for baggage or changing? There was plenty of space and with over 40 marshalls on the route a couple more manning baggage / changing areas would not been too much of a stretch. Massage facilities would of been appreciated by some! The start time is still too late - we got away with relatively cool weather this year but why not a 10am start for a midsummer race when - in theory - it's going to be a scorching day? Water at the drinking stations tasted foul - glad I carried my own!!! Not sure I'll be back next year, sorry.
