In short: organisers made a mistake took a wrong route as there were no marshalls at 12 miles
In full: Just started running, had mentioned to organisers that my time would be 2.30. Was well within that time, when just before 12 miles turned into a road which was the wrong route, there were no marshalls there. Realised my mistake 1/2 mile later also met a marshall there on his bike, ended up doing 14 miles and taking a bit longer. It could have been disastrous if I had continued and got lost in the countryside.

In short: 1st time runner had surprised myself
In full: swimmer not a runner, got a chance to run due to somebody dropping out 3 days before the race, thoughts are with the family of the ones who lost their lives.
