In short: Could have been good but poorly organised In full: Lovely location and a nice feel, the only problem was the organisation which let the race down. A sign pointing the wrong way meant a lot of runners went down a very dangerous slope, then got lost in the woods (i was on my own and terrified and had to locate another lost group by shouting and whistling my location) After trying to get back on the route for 30 minutes we stumbled on a water station and a marshall blistfully unaware anyone was unaccounted for! When I mentioned my upset and frustration to the organiser he said he was sorry but made me feel like a right moaning mary, telling me 'it's for local charity'... as if bad organisation is OK if you're raising money for a good cause! I think I'll stick to road running! Date of review: July 17, 2010

In short: Laid-back local race, well worth entering In full: Positives: Lovely park setting, laid-back but effecient organisation, friendly marshalls, varied types of runners from fast to fun runners. Gripes: some uneven ground under longish grass meant it was dodgy underfoot in places, and a really awful polo-shirt instead of the advertised t-shirt Date of review: June 14, 2010

In short: Huge improvements on last year! In full: Great fun race, lots of club runners and fun runners too. A little crowded for the first 2km as some of the paths were very narrow and it didn't help that slower runners had ignored the starting pens and ended up near the front! Big Q to collect numbers and chip.... would it be too much to pop them in the post? T-shirt very ordinary and 5km water station handed out cups of water instead of bottles which seemed a bit tight considering I paid £18 late entry!!!! I'd do it again though! In short: Great end to a great series of races! In full: A good mix of elite types, club runners and plodders in this series. Well worth doing as the races are well organised, non-flashy and take in some nice green spaces around Nottingham! Plus the t-shirt is well nice! Date of review: July 8, 2008

In short: 8 miles my ar*e! In full: Lovely scenic race starting in Newstead Abbey, mostly off-road and taking in some of the best of the Nottinghamshire countryside! Only one small problem...... advertised as 8 miles...... the race distance eas displayed on the finish line as 9.2 miles!!!!!!!! No wonder I was so slow! Date of review: February 10, 2008

In short: Fan Blooming Tastic! In full: I was regretting entering as soon as I saw what we were running up.... but WOW! This is what running is all about! Views to die for, tough under-foot - muddy, rocky and icy, harsh winds, a climb the like of which I'd never seen before.... but I'd do it again tomorrow.... Brilliant! PS I came in 2nd to last, as slow as you like but still had fun!!!!

In short: Fantastic atmosphere, great scenery.. but badly organised. In full: The organisers seemed totally unprepared for the number of runners. £12 entry fee but no Chip Timing, no portaloos, not enough t-shirts, queues for water at the finish AND it took me 50 minutes to get out of the car park!!!! This is a big event - maybe it's time to get a professional event management company in to run it! Date of review: October 8, 2007
