In short: Organisation gets better each year as I get slower! In full: This is the fourth Coventry Half I have run and it continues to improve each year. Coming from Essex (no hills!), I forget about the hills each year and found it raellly tough this year. Marshalls are excellent, crowd support is good, especially at the finish. If it gets any bigger, some parts of the course will become too crowded.
I'll be back in May, one month after the London Marathon - anyone fancy jogging round? Date of review: October 27, 2009

In short: An excellent course with the first half being really tough. Fantastic marshalls. In full: I am sure that LOSS will iron out the few minor problems for next year. A great challenging course with a variety of scenery. The marshalls were really encouraging all around the course. They also handled some awkward moments well, especially at the finish where runners and cars were in close proximity!! Well done LOSS. Date of review: September 27, 2009

In short: As an Essex boy, maybe the toughest Half I've run! 2nd half seemed all uphill! In full: Race came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I'd heard the return from the gorge involved an uphill couple of miles - it seemed more like it was all uphill from mile 8/9! Atmosphere excellent, organisation excellent, marshalls friendly, pockets of support around the course. Vast majority of course was off-road, which was good. The scenery was stunning in places. Really pleased with time too considering the shock of the last few miles! Date of review: March 24, 2009

In short: Great support during race, start and finish absolute disasters. Too many runners for the venue! In full: Having travelled from Essex to run this race with my brother and his son-in-law, I was looking forward to it. It turned out to be the worst that I have run in over 25 years! I followed the instructions in the booklet, getting down to the runners' village early & to meet my brother. Unfortunately, I had to wait in the rain as he was held up in the queue waiting for busues at the "park & ride" that arrived late and could not cope with the number of runners arriving. After they eventually arrived, we had just handed our baggage in, ready to make my way to the start, as instructed in the guide, when they announced that there was an hours delay. 15,000 runners left in the cold and wet, standing in a muddy field for an hour, trying to find any shelter they could! Then the problem reaching the start, and then finding myself in the sub 1.45 area (there was nowhere else to go). The race was good, although not flat as claimed, with excellent crowd support and marshalls. The finish, however, was as chaotic as the start. I managed to eventually get a blanket, then spotted the T-shirts and goody bags on the other side of the road, so had to move against the other runners to reach them. I heard many runners saying they didn't get theirs (for £30 entry?). Then back into the quagmire. There were long queues at the baggage tents and then it took about 30-40 minutes to actually leave the area and meet up with my now worried wife. We had a meal booked at a local restaurant, which we were 1.5hrs late for. I've run many races of all types in my time but I have to say this was the most shambolic - far too many runners for the area/organisers to cope with at the start and finish. I will definitely not be going back again, although Bath is a lovely city. Date of review: March 17, 2008
