In short: Great race in great surroundings!
In full: I really enjoyed this and will definitely do it again next year! I love the tech tee, too.

One comment, though, to the marshall at the finish line. I sprint finished and crossed the line at 5.56mm. Coming in so fast meant I overtook the lady in front of me after the finish line. This resulted in me being chased and barked at about staying in the right order that we'd crossed the line in. Well, I'm sorry but at that speed I can't just stop instantly, as I explained to you. You didn't need to tell me THREE times to stay in order!

Aside from that, I had a brilliant time. Well worth the 4 hour round trip! Well done on a superb race!!

In short: Excellent race yet again.....but what happened to the t-shirt?
In full: I've done this race for the past 2 years and love it! This year's was another great race, run like clockwork from beginning to end. Everyone is very friendly, the start is very efficient, the course well marshalled, 2 water AND a wet sponge station and the finish is amazing with a tannoy system calling out runners' names as they come in to a massive cheer from the spectators....AMAZING!! If only they were all like this!

One slight disappointment this year....what happened to the t-shirt? The last 2 years was a technical tee, of good quality and with good graphics. This year...a water bottle. OK, so it was a metal one with some Jubilee printing on it but I'm afraid this will just sit in the draw and not get used. I love training in my Notfast tees and was really looking forward to getting another one :(

All in all, another fantastic effort by Notfast Running Club...well done!!!

See you all next year :)

In short: Great race with good support
In full: I did the first Fernwood 5k last year which was great and this year didn't disappoint either. It's a very flat course and a PB is easily achievable here. It's a shame it has to start off on grass but it's only a very short distance. The long straight finish is brilliant for picking up some speed! Although the roads aren't closed, there is very little traffic with it being 'inside' Fernwood village. Last year was a cotton tee and a medal and it was much better this year to get a breathable tee. However, the only size available was large!! Also, it said there were medals but these were only given to the children doing the Fun Run!! Disappointing.
All in all, not a bad race and I'll definitely be back again next year!

In short: Excellent race. One not to be missed!
In full: This was the first time I'd done this race and I wasn't disappointed. Despite the horrendously windy conditions, I finally did a sub-60 10k!! Because the ground was so wet from recent rain, parking on the grounds wasn't available but there was more than enough safe road parking for all. Everyone gathered in the pavillion, where there are good toilets and showers. There's a short walk to the start, which gives you a chance to warm up. There were starting areas depending on your anticipated finishing time, which helped stop a lot of the bottlenecking you usually get at races. Marshaling was great and the route was fairly quiet, with most motorists being respectful. Local support was good with a great atmosphere at the finish. Can't think of a single negative! I'll be back next year!!

In short: Brilliant inaugural race
In full: What a brilliant race this was! Organisation was spot on (with only a slight confusion at the split) and the the atmosphere was fantastic. Definitely a course for a PB....well, it was for me :) Absolutely loved the goody bag and the technical tee!!

Two little niggles. It's not flat if you come from Lincolnshire! lol And it's a bit expensive. Other than that, PLEASE DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR!! :)

In short: Great innaugral race but needs more organisation
In full: This was their first race and about 500 people ran it, despite the awful weather. The baggage and changing organisation was very poor. Most people were under the impression that this was at the car park, which was a good 10 minute walk from the start, but the guy at the car park was telling people it was at the start. When we got to the start, there was no baggage or changing facilities and we were told it was at the car park!! So, they'd had to open up a room for bags, which wasn't going to be locked during the race and there was no ticket system, either!

There was a small hall where people were congregating, entering the race, walking through to the toilets, sheltering from the rain, getting changed etc. In this room was a table with the trophies on. Then a guy on an unintelligible PA system started telling people not to touch the trophies. Well, don't put them on a table in a small room where 500+ people are suppose to be!! No one could understand what he was saying, unless you were stood right near him.

Then we all started shuffling outside to the start. Despite the weather, support for the runners was great, with loads of people there. The start just seemed to 'happen'. No PA system, no gun...nothing that I could hear and I was fairly near the line. We just started moving.

The route itself was quite good and, on a lovely day, would be beautiful. The course is very flat and great for a PB. At the 5k water station, cups were being handed out on both sides of the road, which was good. Marshalling was great, with one man warning people of a huge puddle....thanks! :) Around the course, there were many locals stood at their doors, cheering people on.

The finish was extremely busy, with lots and lots of encouragement for the runners. A huge finishing area, too. No bottlenecking like some races! Very well organised finish. Bananas, medals and goody bags were handed out, out of the way of runners pulling up....again, very good! And the medals are very impressive, good quality ones, too.....well done for this!!

All in all, a brilliant race that I'll be back to but.......please improve baggage, changing and the start :)

In short: Excellent race run by a very friendly club. Don't miss it!!
In full: I love this race. It's so well organised and the running club who do it do everything to perfection. The price is great, the venue is great, the marshalls are terrific and it's run like clockwork. There's ample off-road free parking, showers, toilets, a bar....what more could you want?! The atmosphere is fantastic and there is a good mix of fast runners and those who just want to get across the line...like me! AND you get a technical t-shirt, too!! Don't overlook this one...it's worth every penny :)

In short: Well organised and friendly with a good atmosphere
In full: I did the 5k and really enjoyed it. The organisation was great and the atmosphere very friendly. Traffic was well marshalled and the marshals were friendly and encouraging. The route is quite flat with some slight undulations, so good potential for a PB. The scenery is good, too, with pretty countryside and quiet tree-lined lanes. Good support along the way from locals, too. Great support at the finish with a good crowd. Quite a few people were there alone (including me) but everyone was made welcome. A great race that I'll definitely do next year, but hopefully in the 10k.

In short: Great atmosphere, very well run and very enjoyable!
In full: This was my first time doing this race and I really enjoyed it. Everything went very smooth from entry to eating McDonalds afterwards!

I have one small gripe and that was some of the 'music'. Most of it was great but a couple of them were like listening to a wake!! Not very uplifting at all.

The medals and tee shirts are great, although I did hear that they had run out of bags with Large sizes...unless you wanted a bag without a medal !

All in all, a great race and I'll definitely be back next year.

In short: Excellent local charity event
In full: What a brilliant first race this was. Great atmosphere, fantastic marshalling and fun warm-up. Local radio station added to the feel-good factor. Mixed terrain; some tarmac, some gravel, some grass. Great start and finish; everyone was cheered over the finish line. Water and oaty bar at the finish. Got a medal and a goody bag (bag-for-life from Sainsbury's), which contained a water bottle, oaty bar, certificate and other promotional stuff.

This really was great fun and I'll definitely be doing it again next year!

Well done to everyone involved in the organisation :o)
