In short: A really good race, great organisation and excellent value In full: Second year of entering this race, the course takes you into Reading along the tow paths and back out again with a small bit of cross country at the end. The organisation for this race is great and puts alot of others to shame. At £9 - £10 entry you get a lot, a nice medal, T shirt, bananna and energy bar. Made a 10K PB and knocked 8 mins off my time from last year. Will be back... Date of review: September 4, 2006
In short: Good Race but no goody bag In full: This was my first full marathon and I would recommend it to anyone. It was nice running with the half marathoners but you really do notice the smaller field on the second lap.
Things that could be improved:
Chip Timming would be good.
Some energy drinks on the second lap
Running on the main road needs to be safer. More so on the second lap. Alot of cars and lorries did not slow down and could not be seen until on top of you as you were running in the same direction. A conned off running lane would improve this.
A goody bag or a free T shirt would be nice as £20 is a bit expensive for just a medal.
Overall a really good race and day. Would do it again. Oh the hills are very mild and you hardly notice them. Good crowd support even on lap two. Date of review: May 9, 2006
In short: Very well organised, Nice course for a town run, Good potential for PB, two slight hills but not too bad, excellent shuttle bus service. The stadium at the end was amazing. Plenty of loos and good water stations. Will be there again next year. Date of review: April 10, 2006
In short: Tough course In full: This was my second half and to my surprise I was only 3 seconds out of my first time, which was a much flatter course. The hills are a challenge, but rewarding in a funny way. Organisation was really good, the marshalls were brilliant. Will be back next year with a snorkal and flippers. Did I mention it rained.... In short: What a hoot In full: Great course, really enjoyed it. I chose this for a bit of hill training. Running isn't all about flat tarmac. Would have been nice if the medal had nore than just Prince's Trust on it. Will be back next year. Date of review: October 18, 2005
In short: The Hill gets you but is good coming back down the other side In full: This was my first half marathon and it will be on my calender for next year. A really good venue and a good race. The 1.5 mile hill at around 8 mile point is tough but its worth it when you come back down the other side. Date of review: October 10, 2005
