In short: Best marathon I have done so far!
In full: Atmosphere was great, weather ideal. This was my 5th marathon, and the best so far. Got a pb too!

In short: Not really a city marathon, organisation poor at the finish
In full: Only a small amount of the course is actually in Edinburgh! It is not a city marathon, if it was I think it should finish in the city instead of a village 9 miles out.
The course was flat, and if the gales had not been blowing then I'm confident i would have shaved a minute or two off and got a pb.
The organisation at the end was awful! The comments below say it all. Given that there were 10,000 runners all paying £45 quid each - surely for £450k it could be a lot better. Perhaps cut back on the excessive amounts of lucozade?
I travelled the length of the country for this race, took days off work and spent a few hundred quid. Overall, not worth it.

In short: Enjoyable race, although some room for improvement
In full: Scenery was great towards the end, although there were a few uglier bits along trading estates that could have been omitted. Like the previous comment, my GPS also measured the course to be under 13miles.

In short: Weather amazing, lovely views (away from the estate bit), excellent water stops, friendly, nice and flat
In full: The main downside to this race was the multiple loops around some less attractive areas and also having to make sharp 180degree turns about the marshalls. However, my mate was also running and so the looping back and forth also gave us the chance to cheer each other along as we passed each other on multiple occassions!

Water stations and organisers very good. The water bottles were very good and could be carried - well needed due to the weather.

The organisation felt like a much larger race and I think it will do well scaling up providing they sort out all the looping about (not sure how this can work with a larger field) and also the parking being miles away.

Was good for a PB and a sun tan ;-)

In short: Fantastic!
In full: I regret not doing a bit more hill training before this race (living in Cambridge makes this difficult!), however it was a really enjoyable run, beautiful countryside and well organised. Weather was fantastic too ;-)
