In short: BIG Marshalling problems!!
In full: This is a lovely race, however there were some problems. I was near the back of the pack coming along the river when the winner came streaking past in the opposite direction. I was annoyed at first as I don't like out and back races and didn't know the course had been changed to that. Then I reached a young Marshall who was lying on the grass, a couple of runners coming the other way asked if they were going the right way, to which he replied "No, but you might as well go that way now" I asked him where we should go and he said out the gate at the bottom of the next field. We ran past probably 50 or so runners going the wrong way, unsure whether we would need to follow or not?!? When we reached the field that had been the problem a Marshall was now in place and 20 or so runners in front of us went the correct way so we followed them. We met up with some of the other runners later in the route, and where they crossed our line some of them even ended up running our bit in reverse until we shouted at them to turn round. A chap overtook me at 8.5k saying his garmin said he'd done 12k already and he was confused as he'd seen me going the other way earlier. He was very annoyed that he'd done the extra miles. The marshall on the corner where it went wrong, apologised when I went through saying that they had had a marshalling problem. I can only assume that there wasn't anyone there at all earlier which is why everyone missed it. As a slower runner it didn't affect my time and in fact increased the enjoyment of the race as I saw other runners for a lot longer! However it was incredibly frustrating for those who were expecting a quick time and ended up running further than they expected, the first Marshall who saw it had gone wrong should have directed the runners back to the right path and not just let them make it up!!

In short: I'm not a road runner but as far as road runs go, this one ain't bad
In full: I absolutely hate running on the road and only entered this as I saw it said multi-terrain. Unfortunately it was only after entering that I saw the details and apart from the hill on a stony track (which might as well be classed as road!) it is essentially a road race. However that said they were nice quiet roads with some nice undulations and hills that made it more interesting and plenty of water stops on the way. Plus points? Probably one of the best/nicest road races I've ever done, lots of water on the way round. Minus points, no water at the finish when I got there and one v rude marshall at the car park at the beginning.

In short: Why do I think I can run hills?!?!?!?
In full: This is in my top 3 of hard races, all those gruelling hills and then the final 5ish miles on the flat. You think that's going to be easy but the hills have punished your legs and make it very hard going!!

In short: Undulating my a***e!
In full: Disappointing turn out but I guess that was due to the cost of entry. The course looped round nicely with a couple of laps where I was able to see other runners, otherwise with only 40 of us I would have run on my own for nearly all of it! Great course, but was a real shame that it was so dry, hopefully will rain more next year. Horse jumps weren't as hard as I'd expected thankfully! And by undulating they meant hilly, or rather The Hill that you go up twice.

In short: Is it a hill or a cliff??
In full: Lovely course, hilly, muddy, great fun, only point of nuisance was no cakes left for slower runners at the finish.

In short: Great course for a PB!
In full: Lovely flat race, two minor hills over M5. Shame about lack of toilets, there are enough things to worry about at the start of a race!

In short: Disappointing after last year
In full: This was my favourite race last year, but was a little lacking this time, gripes were, not enough water stations and no t-shirt!! I was annoyed at first that it would cost me extra but then to finish and find I couldn't buy one as they'd sold out was doubly infuriating. Oh and the industrial estate bit was just not as nice as running through Stonehouse last year. On the plus side, it didn't rain whilst I was running, and the start organisation went really well. Chip times are the way forward!

In short: A PB!!!
In full: One of those wonderful races where everything just clicks into place and I got a PB!! Flatish course, some country lanes, some canal path and some bobbly field running with stiles, all in all good fun and I'll be back next year!
