In short: Fast, flat and PB potential In full: New course, that seemed to be forced on the organisers. Start seemed to help the begineers who need to take it easy and not carried away. I came on my bike so can't comment on the parking but not many places to lock your bike up in the school - whats happend to the good old bike sheds at school. Marshalls where fantastic and deserve a pat on the back. The finish funnels were a little slow and might benefit from chip timing. Date of review: November 18, 2008
In short: Excellent race, well organsied and marshalled In full: My first marathon and very impressed with the organisation. Started bang on time, lots of marshalls and spectators around the town and out past peoples homes. The marshalls did a fantastic job especially on the second lap, cheering on everyone. Lots of drink stations, both water and energy drinks. The sponges were a god send due to the heat. People have complained about the price but it is organised by a charity, as a charity fundraiser so it is a balancing act on what they give out. Anyway I think I drank my entry fee worth of water and Lucozade on the way round. The medal is very good.
Well done to the organisers for a memorable first marathon. Date of review: April 28, 2008
In short: Fantastic race, loads of hills, loads of cake and not much mud In full: Once again PJC have organised a fantastic race. Loads of cake, jelly babies and water just when you need them. The weather made the race easier than previous years but the 4th hill made up for the lack of mud. Great T-shirt, medal and soup at the end.
In short: Hellrunner - a hell of a race In full: Fantastic race, what a laugh I had. I have not stopped talking about it since. The hills, sand, mud and water made it all for a briliant course. It was the first time I have run the race, so can't compare it to previous years, the only gripe I have is the parking. People have complained about the goodie bag not being as good as before, surely we enter races for the race itself not the goodie bag, I thought the beef jerkie was fantastic and healthy and the fruit bar was OK for the veggies out there.
I will be back next year. Date of review: November 5, 2007
In short: Excellent race, perfect weather and with the typical Portmouth Joggers hills In full: Perfect running weather and conditions for a well organised race, plenty of marshalls that supported all the runners. Portsmouth Joggers ensured that the race had some hills, do they do a race without hills??
The traffic was light and not a problem, except for the woman in the 4x4 who was deterimed that she was going to reverse out of her driveway regardless of the runners.
Managed to get a PB by 4 minutes and treated myself to a pint afterwards in the pub we passed on the race.
Well done Portsmouth Joggers Date of review: October 21, 2007
In short: Brilliant race and really nice course In full: Firtst time I have run this race and found it to my liking, only because I knocked 3 mins of my PB. The mile makers were out at 3 and 12 but as most of us had Garmins, it was not a problem. The bottled water was a very good idea and thanks to all the helpers who took the tops off for us, I saw one young girl with very sore hands due to taking all the tops off.
