In short: Excellent run - well done Grantham AC In full: This was my first time at this and I really enjoyed the race. The scenery is lovely and the route certainly proves that Lincolnshire isn't completely flat! Very well organised and great marshalls. Date of review: March 9, 2009
In short: Tough as ever but I love it In full: Well the hills don't get any easier.... This is a tough race but it is one of my favourites. You get a fantastic goody bag and t shirt for your efforts and the views in places make the route so worth while. Thanks to all the lovely marshalls. I would have said thank you more often if I could have caught my breath! Date of review: November 2, 2008
In short: Well done Knavesmire for another excellent race! In full: As usual the organisation of this race was like clockwork. A fantastic PB course with a great finish prise. Thanks to the marshalls who stayed out in the cold to cheer us on!
Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to get in again next year. Date of review: January 22, 2007
In short: Why no water? In full: I agree with other comments the start and finish could be slicker.
I couldn't believe that there wasn't a water stop on the way. This is a charity event that will inevitably attract less experienced runners. I saw a number of runners on the way that looked like they were desperate for water!
I had the same problem as others spotting the KM markers. Despite the problems I'll be back next year as this is a quick course. Date of review: November 27, 2006
In short: Great race with lovely scenery In full: This is a lovely course and is manned by incredibly friendly marshalls. The down hill sections more than make up for the hills and PBs are possible if you take advantage of them!
Just one small point, letting a double decker bus drive through the start line when 800+ runners are blocking the road isn't a great idea! Appart from that well done Nidd Valley I'll be back next year. Date of review: November 6, 2006
In short: Good t shirt and medal, shame about the crowding In full: This is the first time I have run the GNR and it was a good day out. The t shirt and medal were good and the water stops and feed stations were frequent.
My only gripe (and it is a big one), why do people insist on putting massively over optimistic completion times on their applications? At the 3 mile stage I passed numerous walkers who were all sporting red, orange and green numbers. These people end up as obsticles to the runners who are capable of running at the pace they specified! If you are unsure put a slower time down and give the faster runners a chance. In short: Glad I invested in off road shoes! In full: Fantastic! Great value race, friendly marshals and lovely route. This course does get a bit muddy in places so I'm glad I invested in off road trainers this year. Will be back again in 2007. Date of review: August 29, 2006
