In short: An excellent flat, fun, fast race - my favourite event after FLM In full: I've done four GSRs and this was my favourite, if not my fastest. Every year there is more to do and see, and Portsmouth is a fascinating place to spend a weekend, with more history per square mile than most cities.
The race itself gives families and friends the opportunity to see you at the beginning, middle and end without moving far, and it retains the perfect blend of the small race and the televised event.
It is expensive to enter, but for a great weekend with opportunities for everyone to run, be it the main race, the mile or the mini/junior events, it can't be faulted.
I'll be back next year. Date of review: October 27, 2005
