In short: Think the description lied a little! In full: Organisers notes says "The course passes through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Lake District, on good, fast runnable trails" and the pictures on their website suggest moderate hills with the old man of Coniston as the backdrop - at no point does it suggest the course is up one side of the old man, along the front then back down the otherside.
There were some tricky bits which were not easy to run and in some places dangerous with idiots trying to push past rather than waiting their turn sensibly.
A good challenge tho, should be better described to new people - the course photos dont show the extent of the climbs. If i'd been better prepared I'd have enjoyed it more. Date of review: October 11, 2006
In short: Nice local 'Big' event - Generally well supported but road closures were problematic. In full: As the other guy said - the tshirts were a nasty colour and feel very cheap but the medal had a quality feel. Points to improve are: availability of results, the queue for dropping off the chip was held up as entry obstructed by those picking up bags, general road access. Good point: Crowd support lining streets, reasonable route, good facilities. Date of review: September 17, 2006
