In short: Not very often I finish in 6th place !!
In full: The first running of this race by all accounts.
Did not PB this race as it was very windy and was blowing in my face which held me back a bit. However it has definite PB potential on the right day. A special race for me as it is the first time I have ever finished in the top 10, my previous best placing being 24th. It was nice to run in a race where the standard was similar to my own and to be able to be near the front for a change...it does not happen too often thats for sure. Lovely atmosphere and well worth turning up for.

In full: A great race for me as even though it was deceptively hilly in places I still PB'ed by over 2 minutes!!
Ran with a foot injury which got worse durin the race ( although I could still run ok ), was able to take asvantage of the 'Physio tent' where they were really helpful ( thanks ). Race well mershalled with fantastic crowd support ( for the half anyway ), and a cracking medal tp keep at the end. Not really a PB cpourse funnily enough, but still got one!! A really memprable race which was welcoming and open to anyone of any ability. Well done organisers.

In short: A bank hoilday treat.
In full: Second time I have done this race and I always enjoy it. Well organised a quite hilly and challenging course with a nice medal and race t-shirt at the end not to mention the added attraction of the May Day fair. Something for all the family and always worthwhile. Well done to the organisers I certainly intend to be back agin next year.

In full: A special race for me as Iran this marathon in memory of my mum who passed away in April 08. A nice atmosphere and seasonal sunshine made this a memorable race. My 3rd marathon and a PB of 3hrs 41mins 30secs made this a fitting tribute. Well done to all the organisers. Shame to hear this was the last one.

In short: Quality field quality race but absoloutely brass monkeys!!
In full: My first race in 4 months although my 12th race of the year and well worth turning up for.
One little gripe a momento would have been nice however the positives far outweigh the negatives. Very well organised very enthusiastic marshals ( particularly the lady jumping up and dowm clapping near the end!!)and a PB for me by 18 seconds 33.17.
A lot of quality runners at this well established race but a good mix of abilities meant that although I was not the first I was also far from being the last. A nice course predominantly flat with great PB potential. It was also absoloutely freezing with the temp not far above zero. But a good race well worth the effort.

In short: Fulfillment of a lifetime dream.
In full: This race will never be surpassed as it is the one I have always wanted to do.
It was an absoloutely unbelievable day with me shattering my time from my one previous marathon ( in Stratford in 2006 )...by over an hour.
Absoloutely delighted with 3 hours 52 mins 06 secs. The pain and stiffness will go away but lifelong memories of a wonderful day never will. Whatever else I achieve in running even if it was a faster marathon would not overshadow the significance of this wonderful day.

In short: Great New PB....A Fantastic Surprise.
In full: Used this as my last warm up event before the London Marathon and was hoping for under 1 hr 15 so was absoloutely elated to run a PB of 1 hr 11 min 36 secs !! my fasterest by some 4 mins.
Flattish course excellent for PB's and a good quality medal.
Quite pricey at £16 with no goody bag.
Steep price but well organised and worth doing...does exactly what it says on the tin.

In short: Not that illuminating !!
In full: Ran this race with a friend of mine whose target was just to finish in an hour or less so I did not run this competetively considering my PB at the time of writing over this distance is 44 min 22 secs !!.
An ok race reasonably well organised and worth turning up for.

In short: Quite Good North Run !!
In full: A massive event which in some ways meant it was too overcrowded especially at the start and trying to track down my folks at the finish!!
Well worth doing though as it's the worlds biggest and most prestigious Half Marathon so its good to have on your running CV.
However I was put off by the sheer numbers 50,000 was too many to cram into one start area. Great support though and glad to have done it and got the t-shirt ( and the medal ! ).
