In short: Hard, steep, muddy (in places) but EXCELLENT! In full: The organisation and marshalling were first class - supportive and friendly. Getting access to the high hills of the china clay works, and the resulting views were a reward for the hard work running up there! Date of review: May 19, 2013

In short: A great all-terrain marathon with a super final 0.2 of a mile! In full: Well organised and marshalled - a marathon to remember, especially in this year's strong winds and the muddy tracks. As last year, I enjoyed the run down in to the finish line in the arena and the pasty. Not so good was not having the option of the beer IN A BOTTLE, to enjoy later. Date of review: November 19, 2011

In short: The new course should make the race eligible to retain the "Beast of Cornwall"! In full: The new course out to the SE of Launceston proved to be a physical challenge with some good hills, half of them upwards, to make the run interesting. The sun made baking hot some of the sunken lanes which added to the demand. It was good that the final 400m retained the run down Windmill Hill to the finish line - excellent that most finishers were able to feel like athletes for a small percentage of the route! In short: Superb weather for the 2nd running of this excellent event. In full: Lots of marshals, lots of supporters and the sun shone to counter the cooling breeze! The route was very well chosen: through the historic town centre, along an old railway, past delightful countryside, up a hill(!), a most daunting flat straight (could I make any ground on those ahead? (No!)), down steeply and back beside the River Tavy for a good 600m track finish. Thanks to all concerned. Date of review: April 10, 2011

In short: Great race through the grounds of NT's Saltram House. In full: The new start on the long grass of the St Boniface rugby pitch warmed the legs up nicely! Then away under the A38 flyover to get to the pretty bit through tne parkland of Saltram. A bit of a pull up to the Stag Gate was compensated with the run back down again! That last "little" pull over the railway bridge is a sting in the tail. Thanks to the friendly team marshalling the race. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: The new course has potential for PBs and somenew views of the Sound. In full: The down-side of the new route was the lack of familiarity for the kind marshals - with 12 elite runners getting lost, and the whole field (other than the wheelcahir athlete, I hope!)having to run up an spriral staircase when the small turn on to a path was missed. The up-sides were some good views, traffic-freedom and the usual "fast" track finish. The memento embroidered hat was most welcome! Thanks. Date of review: February 24, 2011

In short: A great cross-country course with a bit of challange - ideal for a November Sunday. In full: A National Trust castle in a superb setting makes a great start and finish - and then the chance to EXPLORE so much of that "setting" ... what could be nicer? Thanks to the marshal team for very good route marking (essential in those deep, dark autumnal woods) and support in some very remote places! Way-marking in fresh grain was a novelty! I hope the pheasants enjoy clearing up this evening.... Date of review: November 21, 2010

In short: The second running of this great event was EXCELLENT. In full: Last year (first running) the weather and aspects of organisation needed attention: both have been given a thorough tune-up and are now nigh-on perfect. A great setting for an truely rural race with its end in the Eden Arena - superb. Many thanks to the many, many marshalls out in their isolated rural posts! Well done to all concerned.
