In short: My favourite ever marathon
In full: Marathon number 29 and my favourite by far. This was my second chester and it was even better than last year. This is a race organised by runners for runners...every detail reflects this. Little things like the way they listened to comments about the finish area last year, show they really want to make this the best race it can be. Every detail catered for...gels, sports drinks, bins everywhere and the most awesomely awesome marshalls...I wanted to take them all home! The village support was incredible...big shout out to the people of holt! The course, for me, was perfect. A lovely variety of lanes, villages and city...never a chance to get bored. The hills hurt, but hell, they made it more fun!! The finish is wonderful, especially having your name called out, and the way the organisers are all there on hand as you cross the line. I really cannot say enough about this race....thank you chester so very much for a great day. And a 6 minute Pb ;-)

In short: An absolutely fantastic race...everyone involved should be very, very proud :)
In full: Right from arriving at 8am, I knew this race would be a good one. Parking faultless, short queues at portaloos and plenty to do before the start. Town crier to start the race was fab and the announcer at the start made me cry...it was quite inspirational! The course was flattish - some crule hills in the later miles, but I enjoyed them :) The support was amazing...both marshalls and locals made it a race to remember..the names on the numbers really helped (except that I'd put my surname instead of first name and was called 'bunn' by all the spectators!).
The course was nice and varied with town and country parts...loved the last part along the river and the finishing straight was BRILLIANT!! Faultless race, I'll be back next year...and to top it all, I got a PB :)

In short: shambles
In full: DFid this race with a mate in the hope of pacing her round in around 2 hours.
Pens at start non existent as were loos. Came to total standstill 20m after starting. Roads too narrow in poarts. But worse of all was the finish....all ready to cross the line and came to a total bottleneck styandstill. Had to walk over the line whilst watching the clock tick away. A really poor representation of my hometown. Poor poor organisation but superb support from the locals :)

In short: Brilliant!
In full: my hub and I ran the marathon as a long training run and enjoyed evey minute. Organisation was superb - parking next to start, free showers, lots of loos.
the race itself was fairly challenging but very beautiful in parts - especially the Yew wood where you had to follow the string. The cornfield was tough in the heat but it was such a friendly race that we passed the miles chatting to lots of great people.
The marshalls on the drinks statins were wonderful as were the other competitors - especially the ones who yelled us back when we took a wrong turn!
An excellent race and even more remarkable considering the range of distances availbale. Only downside would be the people of Salisbury....would have been fab to have had a bit more reaction in the sreets near the finish of the race insted of feeling like a nutcase running through a shopping centre!!!

Brilliant day.
