In short: A real early morning blast
In full: Having arrived through the darkness and fog it was great to see such stunning scenery. A tough course with steep up and downhills. Well marshalled on the course and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves or maybe they were grateful it was over. A good testing hilly run at closer to 11k than 10k, so more for your money.

In short: Well organised race and fast course
In full: The mild weather made this one a really pleasant Sunday for December. Vest and shorts were out in force! Well organised and well marshalled, the quick 2-lapper had a nice track finish too. Bargain entry and small field negated the need for chip timing. Will definitely do again.

In short: Well marshalled fast, flat blast through SW London.
In full: Perfect windless day for a PB. Well marshalled as always and decent support along the way. The stretch along the towpath was the only poor running surface but it's a great route. Got stuck in the bottle neck at the start so couldn't get anyway quickly but there was plenty of space to make up ground once underway. Will definitely race this one again.

In short: Despite a few drawbacks it was the BEST race ever!!
In full: Got stuck in traffic on the way down (we'd left with plenty of time in hand) but came unstuck due to really poor signage once we turned off at Griggs Green and missed the start. Fortunately, the event, the terrian and the atmosphere made up for it all.
The chip timing was highly inaccurate too making me wonder if there was any point having it! Lots of negatives but a brilliant race which I will look forward to next year.

In short: A massive big city marathon
In full: The start was well organised (baggage drop off etc.) but the pens were crowded. Not sure the randomising system works as it made the first miles slow where the roads were narrow. The crowds were amazing throughout and the weather was glorious up to 12 miles. When the heavens opened that just spurred me on. I thought the crowd noise around Canada Square was amazing. I started to struggle from 23-25 miles with a knee injury but the crowd kept me going along the Embankment and into The Mall for a PB giving me a memory to treasure.

In short: A glorious run in the cold and snow
In full: Despite the artic conditions, I loved this as my final run pre-FLM. Great scenery, excellent marshalling and a nice beer glass memento.

In short: A good race over a fast undulating course
In full: The good points were the marshalling and the organisation and the medal. The bad points were the disappointing Asics goody bag and the huge hold up getting to the start other than that much as I remember from my first half 2 years ago.
The last stretch over the grass was very slippery so not conducive to a sprint finish. The weather was awful and the gusting wind into your face from miles 11 to 12 made it hard going to the finish. It's a good course and fairly quick - a PB course on a good day but not for me yesterday in the filthy weather.

In short: A real hilly challenge
In full: The sunny weather made for a good day out despite the strong gusting wind. The course was a challenge of hills, hills, hills. So it was vital to get the pacing right (which I didn't!). The downhill finish was most welvcome after a couple of big climbs up. The only downside for me was the water stations seemed a bit undermanned otherwise no complaints. Thanks to all the helpful marshalls and volunteers who gave up their time.

In short: A fast blast through the Berkshire countryside making the best of a fabulously sunny dayn
In full: If this was a revised start to ease congestion then it must have been pretty bad on previous occasions. I simply don't get the point of the gun to chip timing. An energy drink option would have been welcome at the 2nd or 3rd drink stations.
More positively, a fabulously sunny day for a fast flat half. Well marshalled, well organised (kit bags were unsupervised though!).
2 mins off my PB (well on chip to chip it would have been!) but my enjoyment of it was dampened by finding my car vandalised before I'd even set off to the race.
Will be back for a sub-1.30 next year.
