In short: A bit of everything, and a bit more. In full: Not one for the faint hearted. An amazing event - lots of challenging sections, interspersed with easier recovery sections. I'm told there were some outstanding views - will have to take their word for that! The marshalls were soem of the best I've ever come across, remaining cherfull and supportive even in the most out of the way and exposed places. The commentator at the end was also doing a great job to keep everyone's interest despite the weather. Put maybe purely because it's a long way from Portsmouth, but will probably be back. In short: A good race made great by the marshalls In full: This is how to do it. Excellent facilities, with seperate storage for the 10 and 20 mile runs. The course is flat and fast. The highest praise goes to the marshalls - they were fantastic. Lots of cheery faces and words of encouragement despite hours standing in the cold.

In short: Faultless organisation and a fantastic course. In full: What can I say that hasn't already been said? From saturday's pasta party to the main event, there was a great atmosphere. At the party, one of the centre Directors was going round introducing himself and welcoming runners personally. The organisation on the day was superb, with seperate changing for 1/2 and full meaning it wasn't too congested. The marshals were absolutely amazing, keeping up their enthusiasm despite the weather conditions. At the finish, different medals and t-shirts for the 1/2 and full are a really nice touch, so often they are the same. The free pasty and pint are a most welcome treat after the great run into the finish. As a final extra, a year's entry to the Project completes the feeling of having been really well looked after. In short: Countryside and cakes! In full: This is a fantastic race, PVRC really know how to do it. The course is very scenic, with open country side and quiet lanes. The marshalls were great, friendly and supportive. T-shirt at the end - if you pre entered makes a nice change from the usual medals. Will definately be back. Date of review: August 29, 2011

In short: What a fantastic event! In full: Nothing but praise for a superb event. The course has enough cheeky bits to keep you on your toes. The marshals and other support teams were great. The atmosphere was amazing, a total mix of runners and their supporters. This really is an event for everyone. We will be back again having decided "What next?" in the meantime. In short: Standards slipping In full: Can't beat the scenery, this is a great route and the marshalls are very supportive. This is the third time I've done this, but this year there were some lapses in the organisation. The mile markers were 1/2 mile out from 10 miles on. The finish was chaotic, very crowded and dis-organised. And as mentioned - why the cotton t-shirt instead of the tec-shirts? Need to get these sorted out and back on track. In short: Another great Shakespeare Marathon In full: This was my fourth consecutive time doing this marathon. It is now my default spring marathon. Love the course, the support and the marshalls. Some people have commented about goodie bags - let's be honest here - most of the stuff in them gets binned! This event is a charity fund raiser, and I for one have no objection to buying my t-shirt. The idea about stating pens is good in theory, but they rarely make a lot of difference, as there will always be runners who over-estimate their ability. See you again next year. In short: Ok, but room for improvement In full: On the whole, not bad. The heat obviously made it tougher. The course wasn't too bad, enjoyed the switchbacks giving a chance to see runners ahead and behind. I didn't have any problems with the park and ride, however saw big queues building as I took the bus in to the start. The course was a bit narrow in places and if more runners had turned up it would have been a problem. Loos - you will never have enough, just have to join the queue earlier. Water stations, could have done with more in the heat, although it's difficult to judge months ahead. Finish area - CHAOS having to walk from medal, to chip, to goody bag, to t-shirt, to baggage and then fight way through spectators needs far better organisation. Overall, the volunteers were great, but the organisers have work to do. And £47.50 for next year - it will have to be something special to justify that. Date of review: April 11, 2011

In short: Even more mud and hills! In full: This was my 5th MVP. I love the challenging course - even more hills this year and a very tough new path up Butser. The real selling point of this run is the Marshalls. Hours spent standing in the cold wind and rain doesn't dampen their enthusiasm. They are always cheerful, the food and drink are legendry, especially the Rum at 18 miles. Well done PJC, another lesson in how to put on a race. See you next year Date of review: March 2, 2011

In short: Fantastic day out, with great cake! In full: Very friendly right from the start. The marshalls were great, giving a welcome friendly face at the later stations especially. The cake is certainly worth the effort. The course is really scenic and very easy to follow, even in the dark. Will I be back - oh yes! Date of review: February 7, 2011
