In short: Slippery When Wet !! In full: As someone has already said, this was a blast from my past and took me back 30 years to running cross-country races at school ! A great event, expertly organised - small enough to be personal and friendly, but big enough to have atmosphere and commeraderie (sp ?!).
I welcomed that commeraderie at 4.5 miles - I was realy enjoying the race by then, and was pleased I had negotiated the steep descent, but then slipped fell quite badly on a cocrete / muddy farm track. Lots of blood on my knee, hands and elbow - but better than that was lots of people running past asking if I was OK. Someone told the next marshall who came to find me to see if I was alright. That support was much needed and I limped to the St Johns people at the 5m waterstation who patched me up enough for me to complete the next 5 miles (admittedly in some pain!). Was very pleased to finish in 1:37, factoring in those hills, my fall and the 5 minutes with St Johns...
Great race, great fun - cheers Alan, Nicky et al.... Date of review: October 22, 2013
In short: If it wasn't for the wind ...... In full: OK - I guess you DO have to expect some wind on an airfield, but it's a shame it was quite so strong! BUT - still managed a PB of under 45 mins - wonder what it would have been without the wind (AND with some training!). All in all a good race. Good fun, excellent support (thanks to all the WAGS !!). Stayed on to watch friends oin the Duathlon - nutters !!! Date of review: April 19, 2009
In short: Great Run !! In full: Excellent facilities - what a place !! The runb was good, nice and flat, if abit windy. The organoisation was not as promised, buyt for afirst-time event it was absolutely fine. As for the venue - stunning. Great cafe, nice and warm and roomy inside - some excellent old and new cars to see, as well as a good range of attractions, etc - fun for all the family. No excuses (such a s a10k race) needed to go along to Mercedes-Benz World for the day !! Date of review: March 2, 2008
