In short: Marvellous!!!!
In full: what can I say... I ache like mad now but it was worth every ounce of effort. Glad to say I entered the Challenge not the race as was worried about being last - the atmosphere was great, like a street party and it made a great day for spectators and runners alike. Nice to see some class athletes there alongside plodders like myself. Will be back next year after some more hill work ;-)

In short: Enjoyed this race lots. Friendly and low key though a few little grumbles re the congested start and the water station.
In full: I was told this one was "hilly" not true and lots of it was flat or down hill. sharp left hand turn was a bit of a bind, as was the traffic to contend with. Felt the water station was in the wrong place but the marshalls were great.
For a small event I found it to be well organised and friendly. Shame not many runners winning prizes bothered to attend the presentations! I'd do this one again.

In short: Quite a tough half marathon, not for the feint-hearted
In full: This was my third half marathon and since it's my home town I thought it would be a good place to PB... wrong! Tough course with lots of rises and quite congested, I was well off my time plan by mile 2 with no hope of catching up. Good atmosphere most of the way though I felt more drinks stations would have helped, to wait til mile 3 seemed hard after a long hill. Ended up running a PW :-(

In short: A very wet day and nice and cool for an august half. Route was uninspiring but organisation was spot on - plenty of water stations, the offer of sponges was to mop you up rather than cool you down! Not a lot of support en route due to the weather.
In full: My first time at Newark - may or may not do this one again. Good value for a half, nice flat course apart from the hill at mile 10 and the slight rise up to the market place for the finish. Nice tee shirt for finishers. Bit of an odd start, I wasn't exactly sure where the line was so started my watch on the gun, my time was 2:07, and I felt I ran that, the official website time was 2:01! No way did I run 2:01. Horribly wet day, though quite nice for running in after the recent heat wave. Not much support en route no doubt due to the constant heavy rain. I can honestly say I don't remember anything about the route so not exactly scenic. Not all roads closed and one bit where a road should have been as had no option but to run on it and the traffic just kept on coming. May be a good one for beginners who are looking for a small, friendly field and a fairly flat course.

In short: Hot day but great organisation and very friendly
In full: This was my first 5 miler - chose well as the organisation was spot on, support along the route, friendly and welcoming, excellent prize-giving (I won a spot prize!) lovely fun run for the kids beforehand - 2 much needed drinks stations plus one at the finish with water and juice - fantastic facilities at the leisure centre. Only down side was the blistering heat, but hey, can't do much about that one.
