In short: When will they ever get it right? In full: Im gutted that again my home city produces a pants race. The late start is a disaster, its just a good job it was dry and the finish-water-medals-tshirts was also a joke. This race could be one of the best in the country but every year dispite the complaints they always get it badly wrong. Date of review: March 30, 2008
In short: One of the most amazing days of my life In full: This is the greatest race I have run and lives up to all the hype. The organisation was first rate and the crowds were amazing. My personal high was on tower bridge where the crowds were amazing. No matter what I put here will justify the feelings I have for this race. IF THERE IS ONE THING YOU DO IN THIS LIFE RUN THIS RACE!!! IT WILL LIVE WITH YOU FOREVER Date of review: April 25, 2007
In short: Great new course BUT PLEASE NOTE BELOW ORGANISERS In full: I liked the changed course and I know to close the roads, police and chips all cost money but the price for the race is far too high. could we not have a tshirt instead if the medal? Biggest gripe is although the course is better who decided to have NO TOILETS AT THE START??? HUGE MISTAKE!!
The castle was a bottle neck but the race has to finish there, its such a sight however the barriers at the exit were a bit too tight, Im sure that could be sorted.
SORT OUT THESE FEW BITS AND THIS RACE COULD BE ONE OF THE BEST 10K'S IN THE COUNTRY Date of review: March 25, 2007
In short: amazing value-lots of goodies-a very challenging course but great marathon training In full: I thought this race was a perfect marathon warm up. Hard hilly course. Not many spectators but with wind, rain, hail and snow who could blame them. Well organised and fantastic value--- You get a jumper, choc and jelly babies on the way round at the water stations,a goody bag with more choc, cheese bap, crisps and a cereal type bar----fantastic. In short: BEST RACE I HAVE EVER ENTERED. WELL DONE!!!! In full: THIS WAS THE BEST RACE I HAVE EVER ENTERED. got a p.b which was nice,I live in Lincoln so had to pick up my chip but the girls on the desk were so quick at dishing them out it was no problem. Great goody bag-t-shirt and medal-bargain!!! Great support. Marshalls were fantastic(they had some rude locals complaining about the closures so had to put up with a lot). Lovely route-I was born in Cov and love the city but it is not the most picturest of places but the route was excellent. Cheerleaders were great. It had a big race feel even though their was just over 2000 runners. If only other councils supported races so well-well done to Helen the organiser-many could learn from you.
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR Date of review: October 22, 2006
In short: A great big feel race but I did find the new course challenging-no p.b for me!!! In full: This was my big race for the year. Very well organised however need more loos near the start line rather than at the back of the field. Killer of a hill at mile 3 and not flat until 10 miles (or is it just that being from lincolnshire any slope is a hill!). Loved the lucozade sport and plenty of water stops, kit bag tent really well managed and a few decent tents to look round.Parking and sign posting for the car parks was excellent too. See you next year Nottingham and well done Date of review: September 10, 2006
In short: A well organised fast race. In full: A very well organised race.Loads of drink stations.Very well marshalled (even in the awful rain).I found the start organised with clear directions of where to go and even in the awful weather they got us off on time.A bit of local support and like the chap at the end anouncing runners names as they approached the finish.Nice touch.Well done Newark see you next year.
