In short: Snow, ice on the puddles, vertical climbs and jaffa cakes on the finish line - bring it on
In full: This is the highlight of the racing year. It's tough and you'll never do a PB for the distance on the course. Had the honour of seeing the course record broken this year by a young Welsh lad. Smiling and flying - just the way that I wasn't when I got to the same place 15 minutes behind him.

This is a race that will turn any road runner into a hard-core trail runner. Fantastic fun.

In short: Best route ever - truly a calendar-photo day for it
In full: I've been doing this race for nearly 20 years and this is the best one ever. This is a great route, great climbing and great fun

In short: Outstanding race - best of the year. It's tough but everyone smiles!
In full: This is one of the best races of the year. You won't do a PB, but you will talk about it for 12 months. Excellent organisation and the cooked breakfast at the end is both unique and very, very welcome!

In short: The only half marathon like it. More up then down rather than out and back.

In short: a glorious 2 hour body pounding workout - Next year will be my 3rd
In full: A fantastic race with glorious scrnery. Not as tough as the Leith Hill half marathon, but much more varied terrain. An outstanding race where you're left wondering why everything aches despote the training !

In short: The best trail run I've ever done (and I've done a few)
In full: This is an outstanding event. The organisation made you think it had been going for a decade, but in fact it was the inaugural race! The course is very tough - only elite runners who can do a half marathon in 1:09 would expect to run every yard of it. Expect lung bursting walks, death-defying downhill plunges and MUD.

A superb race, the most fun I've had in years. I'll be back.

In short: a race of 2 halves - the first half up, the second half down. Don't push to hard in the first 3 miles or you'll regret it!
