In short: Lovely course with a nice track finish In full: Nicely organised with everything running smoothly.
Very scenic course with only a couple of very short moderate inclines & a fast gradual downhill in the last couple of miles.
Probably could have had a few more marshals on the course as there were a few aggressive drivers - this may have been caused by runners on both sides of the road in places. Date of review: March 8, 2010

In short: Great race. One of my favourites. In full: The promised storm didn’t arrive but there was still enough weather to make it interesting, a stiff breeze & various combinations of drizzle sleet & hail.
Lots of mud, achilles-strecthing quad-straining uphills, mud, pulse-raising downhills, mud, swamps, stream crossings and more mud. Recent weather meant for plenty of surface water about and much energy was dissipated through the shoe sucking oozing muddy sections which made up much of the course.
This race is one of the best around for me, covering an extreme range of surfaces, friendly marshals, lovely scenery, good value & local. With the weather conditions at this time of year ever changing it means that it can be virtually a different race from year to year.

In short: fast flat course, nice friendly marshals, improvement needed at the start In full: 2 years since I did this race & I thought the start organisation might have improved, sadly it hadn't. I don't understand why a wider start area can not be chosen.
As the weather was fairly miserable at the start lots of runners left it until the last minute and the easiest way to join was from near the front this resulted in a very slow & congested start. Took me nearly 4 minutes to cross the start line - although it wasn't very clear where the exact start was.
Once away from the start every thing was good, well run & frequent water stations and friendly cheerful marshals - thanks for everyone who helped. Date of review: February 21, 2010

In short: Superb marshals & organisation In full: A very well organised race with some of the best organised marshals ever.
A very minor gripe would be the start - where it's quite narrow & probably needs something to help the runners to line up according to expected time - or chip timing? Date of review: January 18, 2010

In short: Very good race & nicely organised by grassroots. In full: Slight delay at the start as many people arrived within a few minutes of the race starting. Nice two lap course that is almost as flat as you can get - bit exposed though so you have to expect a little weather. Good mix of abilities. Date of review: November 24, 2009

In short: Glorious scenery & well marshaled course In full: Major. A lovely route & much less muddy than last year. Lots of ups & and some great down hills, good signage & friendly marshals. Doesn't get much better than this, surprisingly few runners there (about 50 in eaach race) Date of review: October 17, 2009

In short: Very fast & flat. In full: A perfect rce for PB chasers if the weather is right. Good organisation & although the scenery maybe not the best it was very interesting running round a working airbase. Date of review: September 28, 2009

In short: Could be so much better. In full: For a quite expensive race (with no road closures) this should be so much better. Lack of (competant & trained) car park marshalls caused major problems both getting in & out of the event.
Very scenic route with penty of suppport at the start & finish but there seemed to me a very long section in the middle with no water station.
A fun-sized Mars at the end suggests that not much of the 20 odd quid entry fee is given back to the runners.

In short: Nice race along country lanes. In full: The nature of the start (away from HQ down a narrow country lane) made it difficult for runners to get into a reasonable "time order".
The route was well marshaled along country lanes & although these were open to traffic there were plenty of signs warning drivers. I had one incident with a milk tanker being driven very aggressively but you can't really blame the organisers for that.
Bit odd to have to go and search for the goody bag at the end.
All in a good race & nicely organised - good facilities at the sport centre. Date of review: July 26, 2009

In short: Doesn't get much better than this. In full: Superbly organised as would be expected from Grassrootsevents. Great facilities at the rugby club, very scenic route with plenty of ups & downs but nothing too ridiculous. Extra water stations were a nice touch as were the bbq & the draw for prizes at the end.
