In short: Challenging trail race brings smile to face In full: OK, running through mud and puddles the size of swimming pools with continuous heavy rain may not be for everyone, but I loved it. It was tough though. Not the cheapest race, but quality throughout and good tech t-shirt and hat, plus free cooked breakfast after. Strongly recommend to anyone fancying a new challenge. In short: A stunning, but testing, course. In full: Really enjoyed this. Particularly liked the woodland trails. Lack of endurance told in last 10k, but finished with a smile. Date of review: June 23, 2013
In short: Beautiful but brutal In full: The weather was kind for my first running of the Snowdonia Marathon, and the views were exceptional. The climbs are challenging, and anyone who ran the final climb has my utmost respect! After the first big downhill my legs were already starting to hurt, but nursed them through to the end and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Good support, especially at the finish in Llanberis. Hope to be back next year. Date of review: October 29, 2012
In short: Excellent organisation and weather kind for running hard In full: About the best organised half marathon I have entered. Not an easy course, but the weather was perfect for running, although the mist meant you could not see much of the scenery. Definitely like runing on closed roads. I really enjoyed it. In short: A decent 10K In full: Hard to say that much about this race. Apart from a congested start, organisation was good. Course was a bit more undulating than I expected, but nothing too difficult. Marshalls could have been a bit cheerier. I ran to get a benchmark 10K time for the start of the spring/summer, and would do so again. Date of review: May 6, 2012
In short: Impressive event. In full: This was a really well-organised marathon. I liked the way that different sections of the course had different characters - even though the power station section is a bit dull. For me, the worst bit was the camber in the road from about 6-11 miles, but no big issue.
I think the Brighton Marathon is still coming of age, and so hopefully will get even better. In my opinion, it is already better than the Edinburgh marathon.
In short: Well organised and enjoyable In full: Impressed they managed to put this on with the icy weather, but organisation all round was top notch. I did the 20, two mildly undulating laps of 10 miles. Definitely consider this a quick course. Date of review: February 13, 2012
In short: Glorious run, but really tough! In full: I ran the half marathon. The first half was brutal, but the scenery was superb. With regard to water stations, there is no doubt that they are basic. But that was what I was expecting, and it was not too much of a hardship to carry the energy bar which was given at registration. In short: Lived up to its reputation In full: The weather was not kind, but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. This race has the feeling of a proper event, and the local participation and support is very enthusiastic. I thank the organisers for looking after us so well and congratulate them on the quality of their event. Date of review: June 5, 2011
