In short: Scenic, friendly, very well organised trail marathon
In full: Possibly the most comprehensively marshalled and signed event I have run. Lovely undulating route featuring hills, rivers, buffalo, llamas and a ruined chapel. I can see why this was highly recommended.

In short: Finally a fitted t-shirt
In full: Bring yourself and enough fuel to enjoy one of the most scenic routes in the south. Organisation is very low-key but works, hills are rolling rather than sharp but nevertheless tough, views are fantastic and the sun is just a little bit too hot. 3rd time for me and I will be back.

In short: Possibly the wettest I've ever seen the Downs
In full: 3rd time for me so I might as well add it to my annual fixture list. Muddier than usual, occasional random mile markers, waterstations well spaced and provisioned, great day out despite the weather. Love the last two miles. Only thing missing is a hot drink at the finish - it is May after all.

In short: Undulating, scenic two laps round Bewl Water reservoir
In full: Weather turned this into a bit of a mudbath and having to keep your eyes on your feet meant you tended to miss the rather lovely scenery (bluebells and swallows). Less flat and therefore more interesting than you might imagine.Nice tech shirt for finishers.

In short: Not one for the road shoes
In full: Tried this again for the first time in 3 years. Route may have changed a bit but little else. The new track up Butser Hill is shorter but steeper, with an interesting chalk / mud / ice / slush / running water mix underfoot. Great organisation and atmosphere, miles just flew past and there's still tea and cakes at the end.

In short: Extremely well-organised hybrid race, a very welcome addition to the marathon calendar.
In full: Scenic and tougher than your average park run which happily distracts from the fact that you are running laps. Very generous considering the entry fee, really like the medal (I presume the organisers know they've got a classic design with that logo). Well done, all concerned.

In short: Friendly, highly individual, stunningly scenic (hilly) trail run
In full: Fantastic support from marshalls, families / friends, other runners and random hikers, bikers and dogs along the way. Weather was perfect, I can imagine this course being seriously tough if wet.
Special touches more than justify the entry price - long sleeved tech top with names on for all participants, unlimited tea and coffee and a post-race fry up. It may be a new race but long may it continue.

In short: Small, friendly, unexpectedly scenic 27ish miler round parts of the South East I never knew existed.
In full: A cross between a standard race and an LDWA-style event, most of the route was actually pretty well marked and (sparingly) marshalled but the fact that you were given exact route instructions indicated that some degree of self-reliance (or following others) was required. Route was better and hillier in some parts than I expected, even the rather bleak Thames path was interesting in its own way. Best changing rooms I've been in for a while!I'll be back.
