In short: Hard to think of any other situation where such pain would produce such smiles.
In full: My first marathon and it was brutal. Nothing in my training (I live in London) could prepare me for the terrain (made Primrose Hill look like a mole hill). I thought I’d comfortably manage under 4 hours but comfort was in short supply. The sight of the 7 Sisters was enough to make me forget about the time. I felt like I just shuffled along the last few miles. But this is unlike any other race I’ve done and the time took a back seat to the sheer experience and sense of achievement. Marshals and spectators were so supportive I switched my i-pod off! Flawless organisation. A fantastic experience!

In short: Forget your pb and enjoy the scenery and the mud
In full: Coming from London it was a real treat to run such a scenic and challenging course. After a few minutes we were running through thick mud and some pretty steep hills so I knew it wouldn't be fast. But definitely one of the most uplifting races I've ever done. Organisation was flawless from what I saw. Great fun, lovely atmosphere, and hilarious to watch the puddle-avoidance tactics!

In short: Great atmosphere. Lovely family day
In full: Excellent marshalling/policing for the area and good general organisation. Only gripes: no chip timing, and I'm not sure about having the water station at the bottom of the hill! Great atmosphere though & the kids events afterwards make it a lovely family day.

In short: Good flat race, well organised and great to have a run that early in the morning!
