In short: 6th Munro! Bring it on! In full: I slept until 1pm on Sunday (which is unheard of really for me), and I am still aching all over (legs, shoulders, arms, I ought to relax whilst suffering!). However I think I've improved my time, I really ran downhills and tried to walk at good pace up the stairs. The start was a special edition, superb new tarmac on zigzag (on a personal note, I hate running on tarmac!) road, it was hard surface, long and windy: GREAT stuff. Loved the sweets, did not try the crisps! Yes I favour water (rather than fizzy drink) but eh it happens (running out), water stops were plentiful. Marshals were great, and without them, there would be no race! Thank you again Dr Rob for your tremendous efforts at organising such monstrous, unforgettable events, which make us so stiff and proud! As ever, my complete admiration for all Picnic runners! It is a race you run for the challenge, the atmosphere and in a weird way for fun really!!!!!!!! Yet, I would recommend some (serious)running before considering entering it! Thank you to all involved (sandwiches/ cakes at the end were so welcome and delicious!). See you next year for my 7th!!!!!! 16 miles is good by the way!!!!!!! Date of review: June 25, 2012

In short: My 5th participation, ain't getting easier though! In full: Don't do many races any more, but one every year and believe it or don't: it's this one! My worst time in 5 years I think, but slippery terrain, bronchitis and others (steps, hills...) hindered my performance :-))) and yet still love it! Thank you Dr Rob for a perfect organisation, thank you to all marshalls! Delicious cake (I had some marble cake yummy) at the end. I had considered running the Picnic and am SOoooo glad I did not, I never could. UTTER respect for all those who had the guts to run it! What an extraordinary physical & psychological 'tour de force'. Well done. I will be back next year, hopefully in a better shape! Date of review: June 19, 2011

In short: Uplifting, challenging, rewarding : A superb race In full: This was my fourth participation. everything, this year, was against me. My husband is in hospital, my son was unwell the day before, we now have a dog that cannot be left alone for too long... And yet, we made it happen! I drove to Box Hill, I ran the race, I walked up these steps, I cheered on other fellow runners (utter respect to the first man who seemed to have wings on...somewhere :-). Ran down the hill towards the finish, grabbed a couple of sandwiches (so welcome) and Jaffa cakes, felt the friendly atmosphere but did not stay. Drove back to hospital to show my medal to my husband. He had tears as he knew how much I like this race (he also knows the course as he did one pre-race run one year!). The last half I ran prior yesterday was the Munro 2009! What makes this race special is its great organiser Dr Rob, its cheerful marshals, Surrey scenery, all the goodies during and post race, comraderie between fellow runners, its ultimate challenge in itself is bound to bring a smile on your face....if not during the race, at least later...much later in hindsight). It usually is a family occasion . This year I ran it for my husband Peter! I hope to be back in 2011! Thank you Dr Rob. This is my favourite race! Date of review: June 20, 2010

In short: Top Race! Top organisation! A must do race In full: This was my 3rd Munro in a row, and Rob has organised a superb event where all runners feel welcome. Great atmosphere among runners, very supportive marshalls, impeccable marking. Enough water stations, most welcome Jaffa cakes! All these made this otherwise extremely challenging race a very pleasant race! Thank you Dr Rob!!! Date of review: June 20, 2009

In short: Great and tough In full: I started with 9 o'clock wave, good enough start, great pace. Ran downhill, and all going superbly until around mile 18: my lower back was excruciatingly painful, I could not run anymore, so alternated walking, and re-invented my running style, inspired from brisk walk! Anyway, finished it but my big problem hindered the beauty of the race, which was perfectly well marshalled & marked. Enough and well placed water stations. Some food would have been appreciated from the half-distance marker though. Lovely atmosphere! Would recommend it! Date of review: June 13, 2009

In short: FANTASTIC! In full: This was only my second marathon. First one being Paris this year, which I simply DID NOT enjoy! BH has reconciled me with the distance. Loved it! The cliffs at the end offer such beauty and serenity!! Perfect organisation, great marshalls, water/ food stations very welcome. Great start and finish. Supporting crowd all way round! I hope I can do it again next year! Somehow, missed the hot food at the end, perhaps people giving out medals should have reminded us, forgetful ones!? I was starving and had to go to town to chase for a burger! Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Challenging trail race in lovely countryside In full: Very well marked and marshalled course. Water stations were numerous and well spread; Thoroughly enjoyed the course, but struggled towards the end. Pleasant atmosphere too! On weather front today: too humid for my liking! I hope to run it again in the future! Thanks to the organisers :-) Date of review: August 3, 2008

In short: Excellent friendly and challenging race which brings a smile on your face! In full: This was my second time, and I enjoyed it thoroughly! I thought I had run faster, but my Garmin -annoyingly- seems to think otherwise! Marshalls were great and supportive, course was well marked, Dr Rob's organisation was perfect. Great supply of food at the end (had none because am rarely hungry straight after a race- but it looked good!) and on the course (sweets like haribos, jelly baby, Mars bars, Lucozade drinks at half-way station). Plenty of water stations too. One of the friendliest race one can get. The course is challenging and very well marked! I think I was smiling for the most part (?) Great event. Strongly recommend any of Dr Rob's organised event! Thank you! Date of review: June 22, 2008

In short: Perfect way to spend a Sunday morning In full: Sublime scenery, very pleasant atmosphere, good marshalling. I thought there were enough water stations, but admittedly I also had a camel pack (much needed and used). My first 20 miles race! Very challenging, my legs are very stiff at the moment. A few hills have to be walked, others are 'runnable'. The downhills I found difficult to negociate and proved nasty to my knee. Great race, fantastic weather (warmer would have complicated the whole thing for me!), well organised, friendly and supportive! Hope to do it next year! Thank you Date of review: October 14, 2007
