In short: Tougher than I remembered...
In full: Did this race a few years ago and thought it was difficult, but on this modified course, it felt so much tougher for some reason, despite the lack of rain.

That said, this is a fantastic race which is great fun, in a sadistic kind of way,and has real camaraderie which leaves everyone feeling good and with a smile on their face.

PS Really nice to see one of the top three runners walking quite a way back to cheer us slower guys on at the top of "the Steps" near the end. Like I say, camaraderie!

In short: Great race with exceptionally scenic finish
In full: First time doing this and I thought the course, mementos & marshalls were fantastic. The organisation was very good and I will definately be back next year. One issue I had was with the traffic - some narrow lanes and at one point nearly got knocked into a hedge by a 4x4 twin cab towing a caravan! I don't think that this was the organisers fault, but some better policing would probably help.

In short: Good fun race
In full: Did the 5k for the 3rd year - it was my first ever race and I have always really enjoyed it. It has a good feel and is very beginner friendly - my girlfried did it this year as her first ever race. Quite a challenging course with a long hill quite early on and another long incline to finish with but well worth the effort and travel. Would definately do it again.

In short: Great Organisation & Location
In full: Great day - really enjoyed the venue and the organisation was really good on the day. Couple of minor gripes - firstly the disabled access for spectators was poor (and what there was was poorly signposted) and secondly (sorry, Runners World!) turned up to follow the 11 min miling group in prep for marathon. First mile was just over 10 mins then never saw the guy again - I finished at 2.20 which is below that pace. Did I get the concept wrong?

In short: Nice testing race
In full: Second time I have done this and in the main enjoyed it. I did the 5k and it is a good challenging course in good scenery. Very well orgainsed in the main but two gripes - firstly there was no distance markers for the 5k, so difficult to guage your speed/distance if fairly new to running like myself and secondly, I found when I got home that I had been given last years t-shirt as they had run out of large ones - not a major problem but a little disappointing.

In short: Nice Race
In full: Enjoyed the race and thought it was very well organised. It is quite a challenging course, but it was well marked and the Km signs kept me going. My major gripe is that it was pretty poorly supported by the locals. The end through the city centre is a great section, but would have been much better had there been a few more cheering you on. Will definatley do it again next year though.

In short: Good end to the year
In full: Nice flat(ish) course through the park. Definate PB potential and some good encouragement along the way from spectators and marshalls. Certainly on of the most friendly races I have done this year.

In short: Great fun & atmosphere but a bit congested
In full: First go at a half marathon so nothing really to gauge it against. The atmosphere was incredible and the time just seemed to fly by. The crowds are as much a part of the event as the runners. Main criticism was with the start - I was in the back pen and it took me 36 mins just to get over the start line! From the start I was passing walkers and it felt like I did about 20 miles running round people. That said I would definately do it again and every runner should try this once - but forget about the PB and just enjoy the buzz.
