In short: fast, flat, a fiver! and pool use after thrown in In full: I only entered this one for the medal, which is by the way rather nice, but perhaps because of the hot day the turnout was modest. I was running for a PB but got first lady and won a teddy :) Had not realised about the postrace pool/spa pass or that you can get a nice coffee after too. Very relaxed feel, this is a lovely "fun run", think park run with medals, with a more civilized start time. Date of review: June 27, 2011

In short: A delightful day out In full: Organisation good and remarkably so for a first run of a race. Encouraging marshalls, water table bods etc. Lovely scenery. Well run without being too strict - start was delayed so a reasonable number of people could get their loo visit done! Date of review: March 23, 2010

In short: Beautiful village race with fete-like atmosphere @ start/finish In full: There were problems - a stately convoy of cars processing right through the village & out the other end & then up a steep & slippery track into the parking field AND a huge queue for the ladies, but they put back the start time and directed some of the ladies to a couple of "secret" toilets and all was well in the end. I had looked at the course map & thought "hilly" but having done it would say "undulating". Not one for a PB as off-road, congested @ start, and a lot of the route too narrow to overtake, but VERY pretty, footing not dangerous @ all, and TWO water tables. Good way to start a summer's racing! Date of review: June 1, 2008

In short: low-stress first marathon In full: I should declare an interest here: I live ten minutes away from the start&finish and know several of the organisers and marshalls. Happily I can say with hand on heart that everything went like clockwork (otherwise I would have maintained a tactful silence :D). Lovely low-stress way of doing a first mara: walk from house to start; run mara (even locals can get lost but there were literally marshalls at every turn); get medal; totter home; nap & toast. Marshalls were the epitome of kindness. However, as a sufferer of runner's trots (and there are a lot out there) ... perhaps, at least, a few buckets-in-tents scattered about next year's course? Or if people have volunteered their loos, very big signs pointing the way. We're not at our sharpest when we're knackered and desperate for a poo! Date of review: November 2, 2006
