In short: Top notch organisation Fast Course
In full: I last did this race in 2006 and it has improved a lot.

Excellent organisation, well marshalled, free choice of parking, fast course, good crowds, lots of side attractions (fair, shops etc), excellent tech t-shirt, goodie bag, hot cross buns ! bananas, clockwork finish funnel.

The course is a bit dull as its mainly suburbs but good support and pretty much pancake flat so good for PBs

Will definitely back next yr schedule allowing.

In short: Excellent value for money, very friendly Ultra
In full: Organisation was excellent (especially as this was the first time this race has been run).

The organisers and fellow runners were extremely friendly and supportive.

The course itself is about 98% off road, consisting of canal trail, fields, bridle paths, lots of stiles, a few hills and a set of very steep steps! The course itself circles Derby and goes through Breaston, Draycott, Shardlow, Chellaston, Findern, Littleover, Micklevover, Radbourne, Kirk Langley, Quarndon, Duffield, Coxbench, Dale Abbey etc..

Five refreshment stations all well stocked and manned by enthusiastic volunteers, lots of food and drink cakes/sandwiches etc and a free bowl of soup at the end!

Definitely recommended and an ideal first 50 miler for budding Ultra runners

Will definitely be back next yr.

In short: Well organised but very dull...
In full: First off, thanks to all the volunteers + organisers they did an excellent job. There were stacks of marshalls around the course who were very encouraging.

Good points:
- Organisation
- Loads of marshalls
- Good parking
- Fair price
- T-Shirt + Medal + Goody bag

Bad points:

The start - needs to be in time zones - there were some very slow folk in the first few rows who held runners up and nearly caused some accidents.

The scenery - remind me never to live in Wolverhampton... couldn't they at least have routed it round the city centre ? (the park at the start/finishd was very nice though)

Anyway, overall a decent enough race, some gentle undulations (some of which seemed to go on for ever) and a fairly fast course although quite a bit of a head wind in places this year.

In short: Superb organisation - great race
In full: Top marks for organisation - like clockwork.
Great technical T-shirt + goody bag.
Stadium finish
Very friendly folks
Loads of parking
Loads of yummy cakes !
Thanks to all the marshalls - lots of them who did an excellent job

Course itself has a few undulations and a couple of short steep hills but also has some fast gradual descents.

Probably one of the best organised 1/2 marathons you can do.

and a new PB :0)

I'll be back next year

In full: Great race, great scenery, some tough hills in the woods + some narrow stiles to squeeze through \/ !

Fantastic organisation - my 3rd time + will be back next yr.

In full: Nice touch having the drummers at the start.

Excellent friendly marshalling and organisation.

Course is undulating with a couple of tougher hills - there are virtually no flat parts to the race though so it is challenging.

Not sure what was in that Kendal Mint Cake I had around 19 miles but after eating it I felt great and upped my pace for the last 6 miles or so !

Quite fancy having a go at the 10 in 10 now..... :0)

In short: Awesome !!!!
In full: 2nd consecutive year running but this yr the crowds were quite simply amazing.

It's probably the closest most people will come to experiencing what a top professional sportsman experiences from supporters.

A big thanks to all the volunteers who did a fantastic job.

In short: Top notch organisation, one of the best goodie bags + sweatshirt
In full: Excellent race. My first time running it.
1st class organisation on a par with London Marathon -the race director was even asking us afterwards how it went.

Excellent goodie bag - soon scoffed the lot :0)

Great sweatshirt too.

Course is mildly challenging - undulating rather than hilly - no big hills but plenty of small ones.

Will certainly do this one again

A++

In short: Well organised scenic
In full: Excellent organisation. Very friendly. Nice finish in stadium. Lovely views of the countryside. Organisers have a sick sense of humour - "lincolnshire is flat" it said 1/2 way up one hill !

What on earth was all over the canal? it looked like a red tarmac road ???
