In short: Fabulous Marshalls In full: What more can you ask for in a pre marathon race? Great distance, enough climbs to be a challenge but not so tough as to be off putting. Beautiful scenery. Great technical shirt( although they ran out of small so my husband benefits!) Generous goody bag. Great weather. Last but not least, and the deciding factor in being willing to make the 200 mile round trip next year, was the outstanding marshalling. Supportive and uplifting and kept a smile on my face for the whole distance, even the cruel lap round the field at the end didn't wipe it off. So thanks to everyone who made it such a pleasure to run. Date of review: February 18, 2013

In short: Always delivers In full: 3rd year and a surprising marathon PB! The course is beautiful but testing. None of the climbs are particularly steep but on tired legs they feel very wearing. The undulations (as well as the stunning scenery) do keep it interesting though! Brilliantly stocked fuel stations and thanks to the lovely first aid man who rescued me at the finish when severe cramp attacked my legs simultaneously. Date of review: October 2, 2012

In short: Still a favourite In full: I now have 4 mugs! I love this race. Scenery. Tick. Camaraderie. Tick. Masochistic sense of achievement defeating the climbs. Tick. Unpredictable weather. Double Tick Breaking 2 hours... still trying, but as already said, it's not a PB course, so maybe next year! Date of review: July 24, 2012

In short: Great off road half In full: Fabulous course. Enough twists turns, climbs and descents to test and keep you interested. Shame about the dreadful weather which no doubt impacted on the turn out for both runners and spectators alike. By and large the marshalling was good apart from about half a mile from the end, where a distinct lack of direction resulted in a loss of direction. I wasn't bothered about a time today but can imagine that those who were may have been a bit stressed by this.

In short: Totally lives up to the hype In full: As far as atmosphere is concerned, I never expected any race to beat the Great North Run, but I was wrong. Absolutely amazing atmosphere from the start to the finish. I loved everything about it, the camaraderie, the crowds were spectacular, Tower Bridge, the pacers were great too. To top off a perfect running experience, I finally broke 4 hours so a marathon PB as well. Date of review: May 14, 2012

In short: Perfect London Marathon warm up In full: Just the right time for a 20 miler for those doing spring marathons. Good marshalling and managed to run it slightly faster than last year so a PB as well! Date of review: May 14, 2012

In short: Great race but expensive In full: It continues to be one of the more expensive half marathons but it is a favourite of mine. Despite being out of sorts and putting in a woeful performance on the day, the fact that it is such a scenic race kept me going, despite wanting to stop after mile 3! I still can't understand where the money goes though! Date of review: May 14, 2012

In short: Not for hill phobics! In full: Tough race but supportive marshalls and regular drink stations. The climbs aren't particularly steep but they are long and the last 2 miles seemed really far, hilly and difficult, especially the short sharp hill the second time round. I was very glad to finish!

In short: Affected by venue change but still a great atmosphere. In full: Its a shame that it can no longer be held at the previous venue as the new course is less scenic and more urban but that is no fault of the organisers. The delays at the start may result in changes in how the race numbers and timing chips are distributed (hopefully!) The warm up was fun,the commentator added to the atmosphere, the actual race was still a challenge, the marshalls were great and another excellent tech t shirt.
