In short: Friendly atmosphere, race doesn't get any easier! In full: This is a terrific local run with a great community feel. Top marks in particular for the team on the bacon baps, all the marshalls (I'm not sure Jules and Alan at half way could scream any louder) and of course Rob without whom there simply would be no race. In short: Lovely little race which makes the legs burn! In full: I ran this last year too and it's quickly becoming a favourite. True, the mud and stones did fill up all the spaces in my trainer soles to double their weight, and the pull up Ebbisham lane seemed to go on for ever but this only added to the sense of satisfaction at the end. Great atmosphere overall and my daughter was thrilled to run the hilly 1K kids race again. Date of review: February 27, 2012

In short: It gets better every year! In full: A superb race. I've run all six and it gets better every year. Thankfully no hornets this year, just beautiful running around Ashtead Common. Thanks to the Rangers for letting us do this and also for taking part! It's a great way to use the Common. Both my kids also ran the 2K kids' run and were excited about it for weeks before. Finally, the coasters are an excellent idea - our three will get a lot of use whereas medals tend to languish in the bottom of a drawer. Date of review: October 2, 2011

In short: Enjoyable madness In full: A mental and physical challenge. On the physical side the slippery steps and stepping stones under water added an extra frisson. On the mental side, delirium was setting in near the end as I ploughed on past a clear "No" on the floor unable to comprehend what it was saying to me. An excellent race, brilliantly organised. I am however (2 weeks later) still recovering from it even despite the sports massage a couple of days after the race. Date of review: July 3, 2011

In short: My first time, but I'll be back! In full: The run down Leith Hill passing other runners coming up was a highlight with good spirits all round despite the gradient. Blue sky burst out just as I reached the top and then the long downhills on the way back burnt up the remaining miles in a relatively pleasurable way. Those steps at 12 miles brought on a bit of cramp but despite walking/stumbling quite slowly no one passed. Great organisation, terrific breakfast and great swim after. Thanks Rob. In short: Deserves to be run again. Testing route mostly on private farmland. In full: Congratulations to the organisers for this terrific new race. I run around this area a lot but had no idea where I was much of the time as the course meandered around lumpy and quite muddy farmland that is usually closed off. The extra effort to run the kids races is well worth it. My daughter loved her 1K run around the Pony Field and especially the results and medal in the post afterwards. In short: Very pleased to have finally beaten the 40 min barrier In full: Very well organised race, and a fast course. Chip-to-chip timing is an improvement on last year and the college hall is one of the more luxurious pre-race venues (beaten only by the Queen's Stand at Epsom racecourse). In short: Excellent once again. Already using my wooden medal as a coaster. In full: This race deserves the great publicity it has received. Very runnable course keeps tesing you to the end. The marshalls were terrific and a special mention to the bacon bap team in the hall - very welcome! And my kids talk about the fun run for weeks before and after each year's run. In short: A superb race brilliantly organised In full: This was only my first running of this race but I'll be back for sure. Shaving 10 secs off the PB in a crazy dash across the field at the end capped a great run with terrific scenery, perfect weather for running and near-faultless organisation. The enthusiasm from the marshalls really kept me going and it was good to see so many familiar and friendly faces on course as I struggled around. Date of review: September 6, 2010

In short: Tough, hilly and muddy In full: An excellent cross country course. My road shoes didn't always have the grip but I managed OK till the second half. It got boggier and boggier. Tried to run up all the hills but was failing to catch the runners infront who were walking. Date of review: February 7, 2010
