In short: lovely scenery, perfect weather, very friendly marshalls, extremely well organised.
In full: This is only my second marathon, and I was a bit concerned about it being off road, but while the 26 mainly off road miles didn't exactly glide by, the lovely scenery (combination of villages, open fields, and waterside runs) mean that I felt that I'd run less than 26 miles, and was much more enjoyable than many of my training runs.
The (relatively) small field and combination of runners and walkers made for a friendly race, and always meant that as a runner you could see a walker in the distance and nibble away the distance between you (great for morale!)
The race itself and the buses were incredibly well organised, a big thanks to all the marshalls, particularly as they were standing around in the freezing cold weather until it warmed up, and a special thanks to all of the scouts at mile 12 who were particularly energetic in their encouragement - that was a real boost and very appreciated.
The price of this race makes it a real bargain, so I was even more suprised and pleased to get a really nice t shirt with a great design.
An extradorinarily good race, thank you very much

In short: well organised, loads of water stations, nice Tshirt
In full: Thanks to the marshalls for organising this race, especially the guys at the end on the market square who were organising drinsk and trying to cater for so many thirsty runners - you were fab. It was the first ever half marathon I did back in 2006, so it was nice to come back to it. Newark half has more water stations than any other half I can think of, which were really welcome in the heat, as was the lovely lady with the hosepipe.
The t shirt was lovely, and I really like the fact that runners names are shouted out as they cross the finish line.
Just one minor gripe, its really hard to see the clock on the finish line - could it be placed higher?
Brilliant race - thanks

In short: a good distance to run and well organised on the day
In full: A big thanks to everyone who came out to support this race and all the marshalls. The start was well organised, and at the end there was a generous goodie bag (or though is it just me who thought that the small t shirts were enormous!) Results up quickly which is always appreciated, thanks.
On the downside there could have been more toilets at the beginning.
I think this is a good distance to run, but would have appreciated some more hills to make it a more interesting course - its dead flat!

In short: As always a great race - thanks Kimberley
In full: Not as muddy as last year - but tough nevertheless. The route is a really good one with a mixture of terrain and a couple of good hills

In short: 2nd time we've done this , would def do again
In full: This is a nice off road race for anyone new to off road racing (although the hill at the end is a killer)
Marshalls were v friendly, and really like the way the course doubles back on itself in the middle, meaning that not only are there 2 water stations, but theres a chance to see the faster runners, and those running behind - not something that you get to see in many races

In short: scenic route, plentiful water stations, friendly marshalls - will be back next year
In full: This is the third year i've done this race and I haven't tired of it yet - its a lovely route.
There were loads of water stations, and the marshhalls and signage make the route very clear.
Only minor gripe is the goody bag - i'd rather the price be lower and do without the medal

In short: ow ow ow - still aching from those stings
In full: I've had less painful stings off wasps!
A really tough but great run - the staggered start sounds a bit wierd, but definately works - it means you can run your own race, but run with so many different people (if only for a short while!)
The course is beautiful, very well organised and signposted, the marshalls were excellent, and the veggie breakfast afterwards was just what i needed (although to start with i thought there was some wierd bingo calling going off!)
The only reason I've put "maybe" for doing the race again, is the distance involved in travelling from derbyshire

In short: ruddy muddy
In full: Did this last year and was pleasantly suprised to find even more mud this year - a hard run, over some of the fields it was easier to walk than run, especially when the mud made my feet twice the size and five times as heavy - on the bright side when it came off and we ran along the trails i felt like i was running on air!
Really good value race with loads of cake and drinks, good goodie bag, - and apart from the one marker that must have got blown off, incredibly well marked - road races seem a breeze after these conditions!

In short: quite a hard run, and definately leave your watch at home - this is one to take time out at the food stations
In full: Quite muddy in places (i only fell over the once!) and at times i felt like i'd got half a field on my shoes! Really nice race, through a variety of scenery - fields, woods, villages . Cant believe the amount of food that was made available through out the course - think this is probably the only run where I've put weight on as I've been running around!
While we were provided with a map at the beginning it wasnt needed at all - as the course was very well marked, and the marshalls were very friendly.
The town crier? (appologies cos dont think that was his proper title!) at the beginning was a nice touch too.
Well done to all involved - will definately recommend it to friends, and will be back next year
