In short: Great as always In full: Perfect event - really liked this year's mementoes too (tech T is great!). Don't know how the organisers manage to provide so much for so little (race is incredibly good value). Had stinkers of runs in the 8.1 and the broiling half mara, but managed a PB at the Colworth 5 this year :-) see you next year! Date of review: June 29, 2011

In short: 4th year running In full: This race keeps getting better and better. Despite an injury messing me up in the half, had a great weekend (just take it easy and enjoy the convival atmosphere if all doesn't go to plan!). Looking forward to more cheap beer, barbecue and the 5th year memento next year. Thanks Colworth Striders. Date of review: July 15, 2010

In short: Wet and wild! In full: Does have PB potential (I PBed by over 4 minutes) but the congestion at the start is tricky - I was only about 30m away from the start in the red wave and it was still pretty slow starting. Weather not the organisers' fault, but made for an interesting race! Nice t shirt - not as ludicrously big as the FLM ones - date on medal would have been good. I'll do this again next year. In short: Once you've found the start, a nice race ;) In full: Directions to the start were um...interesting! Once it had been located, nice 10k, flat as a pancake, jokey atmosphere as most are in costume. Lots of pedestrians getting in the way along the seafront but apart from that PB potential. Start is unusually late, could be a bit earlier to avoid heat/midday sun. Excellent value though considering the increasing price of 10ks. Date of review: April 26, 2008

In short: Smoothly organised - recommended In full: Not quite as flat as I'd hoped - there were some definite inclines at points, but nothing terrible either. Probably not one to do if you are a beginner and are scared of running alone at the back of the pack, as there aren't many people doing the full as compared to the half and the field does spread out a fair bit. Lots of people doing the half from what I could tell. The gels were a nice touch and the water stations well marshalled. Thanks for a fun race! Would like the medal to say "Leicester Marathon" on it though, as I'll probably forget what race the medal was from in a few years! Date of review: October 15, 2007

In short: great fun weekend; deserves more runners In full: Only entered this on a whim so was absolutely delighted with it - was not expecting quite so much mud, but it made the courses very interesting (especially the trail race!!) - excellent quality mementoes on the first two days, would have preferred a medal or a t-shirt for the half/completing the full marathon challenge but this is a very minor quibble because I wasn't expecting mementoes for each race at all! Excellent smooth organisation and well marshalled (thanks for the support!) - the only bit of constructive feedback I have for the organisers is that we could do with a bit more information in the initial race pack - ie. if very wet weather off-road shoes are a must-have to get you through the gloopy mud! Lots of club runners but beginners should not be put off because there's a fair spread in the field. The hills are not too stiff but your quads will definitely be feeling it towards the end of the half marathon if you've done the full challenge! Thanks for a great weekend and will be back next year. In short: Glorious pain In full: I've never hurt so much and wanted to give up so badly in my life - but it was fantastic, an uplifting experience. Could have done with more showers given the weather - the unofficial RW shower really hit the spot - and water seemed to be running low when I came through, so don't know how it was for the back of the field. St John at the finish were a godsend and I am so grateful I will probably run for them next year. I'll be back. Date of review: April 23, 2007

In short: Come rain come hail come shine In full: Despite the terribly unsettled weather, a good race. Fantastic organisation. Could have done without the rain, hail and gales, but that's not the organisers' fault!
Goody bag is excellent.
My Garmin measured the course at 13.27 miles, it is definitely longer than 13.1. Try and take the shortest route at bends (not always possible due to number of runners). Date of review: March 19, 2007
