In short: Excellent organistaion made this race a pleasure In full: Just got back from my first Bristol Half. What an experience! It was well organised, well supported and a pleasure to run. Support most of the way around the course. A technical t shirt and a medal, plenty of lucozade and water stations. I will definitely be back next year as this is the best half marathon I have run this year. Thanks to all the marshalls and supporters. Date of review: September 11, 2011

In short: disappointing In full: Well a week has gone by now since the marathon and I have had time to ponder my feelings towards this race. I got there the night before the race and the pre-race info gave me a chance to drive around the course to familiarise myself. (As has been stated this was the only pre-race info that we received.) Flat course, definite PB potential. I collected my number and chip in the morning and tried to hand in my drinks. They didn't know anything about it so I went in search of another marshall who pointed me back in the direction I had already come. Eventually found who to give them to. (High 5 was being given out on the course but we didn't know that until we got to the drinks station). Made my way to the start and was surprised that there were so few of us and that there was no timing mat. Weather was perfect so I felt positive when I got to start line. First time I have ever been on the front row! Apparently there was a race briefing which is why so many missed the start, well there was no indication of this in the pre-race notes. Glad I didn't go. Race didn't go well for me as I found it demoralising being constantly lapped. There was no-one going my pace to keep up with. Marshalls were very friendly though. Eventually crossed the line to the applause of 2 spectators (no marshalls in site). Searched in a cardboard box and found a memento. Untied my chip and went in search of refreshments. Ordered a coffee and cake then was asked to pay. Luckily I had some emergency money otherwise it would have meant a long trek back to the car park. As for the value for money: £25 for this race. Where did the money go? I have had much better value from £10 races. I left the race feeling very disappointed. This could have been such a good race but it was let down by a lack of pre-race information and organisation. Date of review: June 26, 2010

In short: not as good as usual In full: I have run this race a few times now and this year seemed to be less organised for some reason. The sponge idea was rubbish. who wants to carry a sponge around the course and dip it into other people's sweat? Car park full up so I had to park in a side road and run to the start. Finish area was poor. large queue for water. no goody bag. had to pay extra for a T-shirt. The only thing better than last year was that the massages were organised better. I only had to wait 10 mins. Last year I gave up after waiting an hour! Date of review: September 28, 2009

In short: Excellent race. T shirt and medal. running along the beach. In full: Well organised events. with a Half Marathon, 10k and 5k it meant that there was something for everyone. T shirt and medal at the end meant this was excellent value. supporters could play on beach while waiting for my return. Excellent prep for FLM. I will be back next year. I even got a PB. In short: excellent training run In full: Very well organised race which was excellent if training for a spring marathon. 2 laps made it easy to know what was coming on the second lap. excellent support from marshalls. plenty of water stations. Good running shirt before the race and a medal at the end. Few minor gripes: not enough loos, results had some errors / omissions. Otherwise a very well organised race that I well definitely be running next year. Date of review: March 7, 2009

In short: Take a picnic, take the family and have a great day in the New Forest In full: I enjoyed this race again this year. Quite hot but plenty of drink stations. well marshalled. Entertainer, bouncy castle and kids races to keep the family entertained. goody bag wasn't worth giving out but horse brass a bit different from a medal or t-shirt. I wasn't worried by the crowding at the start as there was still 10 miles to run. I beat last years time by 5 minutes so I was pleased. Overall a great day out for the family Date of review: July 15, 2008

Paid for parking then found the barrier was up! Overall it would make a good evening out for the family if it wasn't raining. definite PB potential - how many other 8K races are there?
