In short: Fantastic race, wonderful atmosphere & support
In full: Very tough race with all the hills & the heat

This was my first ever race in 2005 (2.29!!!), so it has a very special place for me

Its still very tough and the heat was really challenging. After a blistering 5 miles to the top of Anchor road I faded, but still achieved my goal of a gold medal (1.28)

Superb support and atmosphere. Made the Reading half seem very bland!

In short: Excellent race - got a 'joint' pb!
In full: As seems to be par for the course for this race, the rain began just at the start!
However, this did not detract from an otherwise excellent race, with a very nice atmosphere and superb organisation.
Support for this race continues to be from relatively far afield, reflecting the good reputation of the race (eg runners from Rotherham, Bingley, Oxford, Coventry and Telford).
Good day all round and many other runners seemed to feel the same.

In short: Pretty good race overall, shame about the mile markers
In full: I enjoyed this race and the weather was nothing like as bad as it could have been. Fairly flat overall, only one hill of any note. Missed a pb by 20 seconds!

For those runners without a garmin, the mile markers were extremely confusing. I'm glad the announcement was made at the start, otherwise I'd have been even more confused. It was very hard to judge how you were doing and some weren't even 'approximate'!

In short: PB but disappointed in the organisation.
In full: This race was just as tough as I remembered, but I was very pleased to get a pb.

I do have to say how disappointed I was about the error in directions at the end. It's hardly the first time this race has been run and for EVERYONE to go wrong, there was a pretty basic flaw in the oragnisation. I do think Stone MM have some explaining to do on this one.

In short: Good, fast course. The sting isn't too bad
In full: The organisation could have been better for this race. Queuing for the numbers was chaotic and resulted in a 15 minute delay.
Definite PB potential was marred by xc at Lyme Valley the previous day.
Well done Neil on your massive PB!

In short: Yes folks, I agree that the start was awful
In full: This had to be the worst start for such a large event that I've ever known. I couldn't believe the guy with the placard didn't have a loud hailer and to my knowledge there was no hooter at the start. Like many others I couldn't tell exactly when the start was, so my actual time was 45 seconds down on the official time.
Very disappointing and a huge let down.
To cap it all I left my faithful old tracky top at the start and it had disappeared when I finished.
Not a great race at all and needs massive improvements for next year.

In short: Very good race
In full: This was the second time I'd done this race. It was going quite well until mile 3-4 and the final mile seemed a very long run in! The first mile marker seemed to come round very fast, unsure if it was accurate or not.
But, I did enjoy the event - nice atmosphere etc. The rain just about held off!

In short: Good race, if very cold and windy
In full: Nice to see a better turnout this year.
Good fun race in the swirling winds. Undulations made for a pretty tough course.
Very well organised all round!

In short: Any race with a pb is a good race!
In full: Good flat race. I've been chasing a sub 40 minute 10k all year and finally got it in 39.29. Very pleased.

The start is congested and slower runners were too far forward.

Well worth staying sober for on Boxing night!

In short: Great atmosphere and a superb end of season bit of fun
In full: Could hardly believe the cold at the start. The fancy dress made for an uplifting race.

Many thanks to the marshalls, who must have been absolutely freezing, as must poor Bryan Dale.

Shame that the numbers were sent out so late it did make me wonder if I would ever receive mine. Plus in such cold conditions I couldn't see why this race should have started off at 11.08, it really was nippy standing there.

Overall, definitely worth doing,
