In short: One of the best races of the year
In full: The organisation is faultless. The course is well thought out and a pretty tough combination of trails and muddy bits and hills. The usual thank yous to the organisers and marshalls with a special mention to the Main Man who's standing down this year after four great years

In short: Simple: a fantastic race
In full: Exceptionally well organised, this race is a testing challenge for all runners regardless of individual abilities. Is it hilly? Yes. Is it muddy? Yes. Has it got the best ad most vocal on-route supporters? Yes. Don't miss out on doing this race - it's a belter!

In short: Slopbury Sod
In full: It's a regional institution, so the offer of a number meant that I couldn't pass up on the opportunity. Superbly organised - thanks Bitton Runners - and I was proud to wear a poppy with everyone elso on this Rememberance Day run. Actually not as muddy as expected!!

In short: Sunshine, skylarks, aches and cakes
In full: My third running of this race and it just gets better and better. A well-organised yet informal and friendly atmosphere atthe race hq in a medieval barn. Stunning and expansive views from Cleeve Cloud across Cheltenham to the Malverns and the Black Mountains - accompanied by a soundtrack of burbling skylarks. A series of shorter climbs to sap your leg muscles before the really draining climb from the low point of the course up to Belas Knap. A couple of extra inclines thrown in just before the end to really push you beyond an already overstretched comport zone. A good looking T-shirt as a momento of something you really feel you've earned. And finally, the opportunity to o/d on cake and tea whilst sitting in the spring sun. Many thanks Cheltenham Harriers for a great event!

In short: A s.a.p.p.i.n.g race - but defintely one for next year
In full: A laid-back yet well co-ordinated event. Low key and friendly. The course contains some downhills that you can really let go on and some climbs that have an equally opposite effect. The course is almost entirely through woodland and follows both sides of the valley dipping down through a series of reservoirs. Its hard, but highly recommended

In short: Short 'n' 'ard
In full: A really good evening race that tests your ability to keep going! The hills are hard, but there are also some easier sections. Keep something in the tank for the last mile and a half though as the climb up to the trig point will wipe away those last reserves of energy. The final 1/2 mile back to the finish is mercifully downhill. Highly recommended!!

In short: A memorable race in bright sunshine and fresh snow
In full: The well-marshalled course is eventful at almost every turn giving a good mix of slopes and surfaces as well as an above-the-knees river crossing that numbs the legs and makes you really feel the challenges that follow. I will be making this one an annual event - thanks Cirencester.

In short: The perfect race?
In full: It only took a couple of miles for me to realise how new babies and sleep loss can reduce performance - at least that's my excuse! Went off too fast (again) and spent the rest of the race being overtaken. Nevermind, I walked the big hills and took a bit of time to enjoy the views. This truly is a fantastic race: low key and unassuming yet more than taxing enough to give a rewarding sense of achievement. Every finisher gets a bottle of local beer, and the other prizes are local produce also. Everyone dead friendly - it's just great.

In short: More please!!!
In full: Highly recommended if, like me, slogging around in slop is something you enjoy. The atmosphere is very friendly and the event well organised and it's all in favour of an important cause. It's a testing course but ok if you keep something in the tank for the last demon uphill!
