In short: A gruelling muddy coastpath run
In full: This was the first running of this event, although the organisation was as good as if it was an established race.

Heavy rain the day before ensured heavy, thick mud for much of the run. The run was very tough with very few flat parts. The uphills were tough and the downhills even tougher.
Unfortunately a bit of mist meant poor view at the start but once it lifted the views over the sea were glorious.
Not a run for the faint hearted but certainly one that was enjoyed by all. Only heard good reviews afterwards.
I shall be keeping an eye open for entries opening again for next year.

In short: Cracking off-road run - more races like this in Cornwall please!
In full: A tough challenge, both with the terrain and the weather to match.
The first 2.5 miles are all flat or downhill before you hit the first of many uphills. The ground is rough and uneven which makes the hills twice as hard as if they were on the road.
A nice run across the beach, climbing (literally for some) up the coastal paths and fields whilst looking out on amazing scenery makes this a fantastic race.

The venue is good for those who have partners left behind looking after children as their is a good park as well as a small theme park with some rides for older children.

Organisation is spot on. Plenty of marshals, lots of smiling faces and a clearly marked course.

The weather today was very windy and at one point included driving hail which hammered into you and tried to push you backwards!

I shall be back. My only wish is that there were more off-road races of this calibre in Cornwall. Why, in an area with such outstanding beauty, there are so many road races I'll never know.

In short: Cracking run over some hilly off-road trails
In full: This was the slowest half marathon I have done, simply due to the big hills and tough terrain. A normal road half for me would take about 1hr32 and today I took 1hr42.

However, the views were glorious, one minute atop a hill with views of the countryside, then soon afterwards running alongside a peaceful river.

The runners were a good mix of club runners, firefighters and people who were just there for the challenge of completing the distance.

The only negatives that I could come up with were that the weather was a bit warm and the water was handed out in bottles. I only usually have a mouthful or two at each drink station so over the course of the run ended up throwing away the best part of 4 bottles of water. Cups would have been loads better and would have surely saved the organisers money!

However, this isn't even a moan, more of a thought for next year.

I'll certainly be looking out for this race next year and would highly recommend it to all!

In short: A favourite race of mine - plenty of hills and mud.
In full: Race started poorly when, firstly I couldn't hear the woman who started the race (maybe a megaphone is required considering there are 600+ runners?). Secondly, there were a lot of slower runners who congregated towards the front line and who caused queues once we were on the first footpath as they slowed down but people couldn't overtake. In fact I was restricted to walking parts of the first mile due to congestion on the narrow paths.
However, once the track widened around the mile mark the congestion eased and overtaking was easier. The route from here was great. Very muddy in many places (around 6-8 inches deep) and plenty of hills - just the way I like it.
I was a little disappointed in myself as I had to walk a little bit of the last hill (which I ran up last year) but delighted to find I was nigh on 2 minutes quicker than the previous year!
A good race and I will return.

In short: A good little race with a challenging hill and rough off road paths.
In full: I was looking forward to a good old 'scramble' on a Saturday morning but, with the exception of 1 tough hill through a farmers field the rest was run on grassy paths across the moor. It was nice but not quite a scramble! I was hoping for something a bit tougher and muddier!

The two best bits were the view from the high points on a lovely day and the gorgeous cakes at the end that enticed me to spend some money.

In short: Loved the whole day!
In full: I ran the half and loved the challenging hilly course.
The marshalls were amazing, the drinks stations perfectly placed, the runners supported each other well and the finish was brilliant - downhill and with views of the crowds gathering around below you, hearing the cheers of support for those in front finishing.
Nice pasty, nice ale and nice walk around the biomes afterwards.

In short: Very Quick race with a lot of PBs in perfect running weather
In full: The course is a nice flat one with about half run on compact trails and half on roads. The weather conditions today were perfect, temperature was good with some lovely, light drizzle.

At the finish a lot of people I spoke with had either hit their PB or come close to it.

If you cannot get a PB at Indian Queens then you can't get one anywhere.

Somewhere in the region of 600 runners today which is excellent for a race of this distance.

Well organised and I'll be back next year.

In short: One of my all time favourites.
In full: Came back for the 5th year in a row. This is one I love and will continue to return to.

Some tough hills, dodgy off road downhills, with a very small amount of flat bits thrown in as well.

Starts and finishes outside a pub - perfect!

Perfect weather this year, slight drizzle to keep you cool but not too wet.

In short: Third time it's been run and as good as always.
In full: A good local 10k. Very quick first half, flattens out before a long steady hill at 4.5 miles. A quick last half mile after the hill.

Well organised and a good mix of runners including club runners and non club runners, quickies and slowies.

In short: Bloody tough but bloody brilliant,
In full: Awesome race. So so hard but most enjoyable run I've done and very satisfying.

Highlights included:

* First half mile along the beach.
* Two chaps with guitars singing 'I will walk 500 miles' which could be heard for miles around their 4 mile point.
* Second beach, river number one and drummers.
* Man on his own, in full scottish dress playing the bagpipes.
* Three chaps with a shrine for something playing the bongos and digeridoo.
* Running through thigh high mud that sapped the energy completely.
* Running through the pub beer garden with more live music and loads of (drunk??) enthuasiastic support.
* Two more bagpipers.
* Back along the beach with the drummers.
* Up a stupidly long set of steps to the top of the cliff path.
* The final half a mile along the beach.

I could go on and on.

Would definately like to go back next year.

Final bonus: I now own my first piece of pink clothing!
