In short: Pretty course and you can see that it is organised by experienced runners In full: Friendly, well organised, good value (with nice tech shirt and medal), enough water and food stations in reasonable locations for where you need them. Course is not easy but mild compared with downs trail marathons, and it was so much easier this year without the deep mud! A slow run for me after a tough week's mileage but it's also a nice spot to relax afterwards with your family and enjoy the day. Date of review: May 8, 2013

In short: my second marathon with Trionium and again tough run but very good! In full: Tough run, not much easier than likes of BHM I think, but great organisation, good atmosphere and really nice touches - good medal, mug, best t-shirt I think that I've had, free tea before and cooked breakfast after, swim I believe (personally I'd spent enough time in water with all those puddles on course!), well stocked drink stations, etc. Really good - well done to Rob and his team! In short: enjoyable day, well marshalled In full: In the heat, very much appreciated the well stocked and multitude of drinks stations - better than many ultras, which the marathon felt like this year in the heat! Good atmosphere at finish - my wife and kids still rate this on our third visit as one of best for spectating at with so much to do and enjoyable feel Date of review: September 10, 2012

In short: 4th time and I'll look forward to being back In full: I love running by the sea and this is a really nice route. You can see that this race is organised by a friendly club, experienced in both running in events and organising their own. Date of review: September 3, 2012

In short: brutal In full: Can't be any complaints - they certainly didn't hide how tough it would be and it lived up to it! T-shirt is great and medal (my kids, who are much more into the bling!, tell me) is biggest and one of best. Drink / food stations were well stocked even towards end and marshalled by fantastic people who really appreciated what you were going through and supported you (hard work on such a long afternoon!). A real sense of pleasure in completing that, even compared with other ultras - but whilst I've ticked the box for 'would you do it again', I did so out of support for such a great race rather than actually feeling up for it in any way yet! In short: 3rd time here for marathon and hope to be back next year In full: Local for me which helps, but I do really like the low key and supportive organisation here. They raise funds for a good charity and make all feel part of that. I don't think that the hills are too bad on this course, but road junctions are less pleasant! But at least you know what to expect on second lap and well marshalled as ever though. Distance must be at least accurate now! Also did the family 4k at end with my kids which they love each year Well done once again to Footsteps and hope to be back again next year! Date of review: May 14, 2012

In short: Good race, shame about conditions In full: Great venue, very nice t-shirt and medal. Course was largely off road with a couple of hills, just sadly so muddy after the month of rain that spent the run looking at my feet trying to stay upright rather than enjoying the views and location. In short: Expensive but is a beautiful route and well organised In full: Very expensive this one and without extras for your cash (no event specific t-shirt, dog tag not medal, no water or snack at finish, more cash for teas etc) But I may do it again as was run very smoothly, is a truly beautiful and brutal place for a marathon (esp first half before you link up with halfers), well sign posted and it's on a saturday. In short: No real dramas and a good value marathon In full: Full credit to the marshalls for sticking it out in torrential rain. It made the fields hard work, mostly couple of miles either side of half finish, but signage very good on whole until 23 miles when they ran out and I was one of a few that added a mile or so to our route. Very laid back organisation but that is as they described it and a good atmosphere for that. Date of review: March 13, 2012
