In short: A tough 10k course which would be dangerous when wet ! In full: I really enjoyed the race but it's tough and one downhill section in the vineyard would have caused a lot of problems if it had been wet. A bit too much waffle on the tannoy at the start to, resulting in a false start (not that they called anyone back). A fun run it was and it would be harsh to say anything too derogatory for that very reason. Well done to all concerned. I will be back in 2007 Date of review: February 12, 2007

In short: Could have been so much better ! In full: The best part of this race for me was looking around Petworth House with my family afterwards.
I am sure lots of first timers loved the experience on what was a tough 10k course which zig zagged and even went back on itself 180 degrees in one place. But for anyone that races regularly it must have been disappointing. No effective directions to the entrance, no results or timing, a delayed start for no apparent reason, and quite pricey. I enjoyed the run and it's a great cause but a professional multi million pound organisation like Cancer Research should really do a better job than this. Date of review: February 12, 2007

In short: Not too muddy considering the weather lately ! In full: Little or no chance of a 10k PB (not least of all because it's longer than 10k), but definately a race worth running. A challenge to pace yourself because of the up and down nature of the course and a little narrow in places for overtaking, especially with 3/4 of a lot of tracks being just a bit sticky. Having said that it was not as muddy as expected given the torrents we have had. Good changing facilities but a short walk to the loos - why not do the same as Tadworth 10 in the Grandstand ? Great Marshalls - thanks and well organised all round. Will be back in '08. Date of review: January 21, 2007

In short: Hot, hot, hot - but very enjoyable too. In full: A late review by me because I am new to this Runners World lark. A nice flat, scenic course but a very hot day which made a quick run near impossible (unless you were from a hotter place). Good organisation all round, parking easy and nearly and chip timing a great touch. I'll be doing this one every year. Date of review: January 11, 2007

In short: Tougher than expected in places but nevertheless a great race! In full: A very enjoyable tough and testing course, although a little crowded at the start (arn't they all) and given the recent weather not too muddy either. Well organised and good facilities in the Grandstand, although a little distant from the start. Car parking was also tricky, although the officials seemed to have a huge car park to themselves (not that I begrudge them a space each). Friendly atmosphere too and not that much traffic either. A regular in my itinerary from now on and thanks to all concerned. Loved the freebie gloves too (much better than yet another medal). Date of review: January 7, 2007

In short: Every other 10k will seem very easy after this one ! Actually 10 miles will seem easy too ! In full: Let's face it - your not going to run a PB just after Xmas and New Year - so just add about 40% to your best 10k time and try to beat that. This could be a huge race in a few years time (National Trust permitting) - it's really well organised, friendly with loads of atmosphere and suited to both beginners and elite runners alike. The run through two weeks before is highly recommended because you'll know what to expect and be able to pace yourself (I resisted the race day temptation to shoot up the first hill and ended up jogging very slowly past the guys already walking after 1km). I also, rather cruelly, laughed a lot as one of the elite guys shot past me at 4km and then slid headfirst into a lot of mud - messy. This race is great fun and you'll have a tale or two to tell afterwards, either about the hill climbs or the fast decents (the last km of this race will be your fastest ever). You need to be a little mad to enter - but afterwards you'll think it's madness NOT to enter. Date of review: January 3, 2007

In short: A good one lap course and not as hilly as you might expect. Parking was much harder ! In full: I really enjoyed this one and would definately do it again. Knocked 7 mins off my Dorking 10 time (but that was a hot day) totally unexpectedly given the hilly nature of the course. There were some fast downhill miles on the course at the start and finish which made all the difference.
There was a bit of treking back and forth if you entered on the day (should a runner complain about that ?) and given all the space there, the entries could have been done nearer the start. Parking was also not signposted at all and having followed all the nice dayglow yellow signs to the race, I only discovered at the last bend that there was no parking there .. despite the big pub car park adjacent the race h.q.
But, friendly marshalls and lots of them and a most enjoyable moring all round. Thanks to Epsom & Eweel Harriers. Date of review: November 23, 2006
