In short: A steepy hilly, slippy slidey mudfest of an event.
In full: With the aches and strains subsiding the day after the race I can look back fondly at the mudfest that was the Bath Hilly Half 2012. 'Cosily' organised with plentiful water and sweetie stops. As previously mentioned, it's hilly and muddy - yesterday was very muddy. Bridleways were streams, flat bits were bogs, all great fun but trail shoes are a must.

I'm proud to say it was a Southville runner who cheered everyone on in the jester suit and another Southville runner, a first time half marathoner, who swept up the race. She happily admits she almost bit more off than she could chew as a first timer....but she still finished, brilliant! Perhaps warm up with a Bristol, Stroud or Salisbury half first before attempting this one.

The only disappointment was the lack of the promised carrot at the end of the race - the T shirt and the medal were good though.

In short: Once they get it right, it'll be a cracker.
In full: The start by the local MP and mayor was a lovely touch for the inaugral running of the Bradford on Avon 10km. An amazing course around two loops, either side of the canal. A minor hill on the first loop and a stonker for the second. The added picquancy of 25 C temeperature made it a real killer.

A few gripes which are easy to sort. The signage to the event and to car parking and registration tent was non exisitent. Marshalling at some points could be improved. Narrow, winding (open) roads leave you feeling a little exposed when you came to blind bends. At the finish it was a little confusing about who was handing out goodies, rehydrating drinks etc.

If the organisers could get the roads closed - you have the local MP and the mayor on board so that should be 'easy' - along with sorting my minor moans it will be an excellent race, well worth doing.
