In short: Very poorly organised - save your money and run in the park In full: RW web entry and e-mail on Thursday both promised changing area and showers. Neither were actually available. Start was moved at last minute! Distance markers all over the place, 5k was nearer 6 in my opinion. Who knows if the total distance was anywhere near 10k? Very shoddy organisation and still no results. Poor quality very cheap medal without the race and date marked on it and a very poor T-shirt. Probably the worst organised race I have ever ran (and have done over 30). I'll not be back to this or any other organsied by that crew. Stick to events organised by runners and not some chap who clearly just thought this was a way to cash in. Date of review: October 24, 2011
In short: Hilly, lacked atmosphere, very little info from organisers before race. In full: Hard to stay hydrated with just half full plastic cups. Bottles please next time? Date of review: January 25, 2010
In short: A Challenge In full: The marshalling, water stations, course etc were excellent. Will definitely try to do this again as it was great fun. Don’t underestimate this course though as it was very tough especially on the return leg.
As others have said the start could have been better, very congested on bridge meaning that it was all but impossible to enter the start area in the correct position, some were forced to enter at the front since they could not cross the bridge! The immediate sharp left turn was also not good. Why not start on Station road, with “pens”? The pre-race instruction and details on the web site could have been much better (although things were clarified via the RW Thread – thanks for that). The instructions seemed to assume prior knowledge which was no good for a first timer. Details of where to leave begs and a course map with elevations would have been very useful. We were told by a marshal there was nowhere to leave a big, information we now think was incorrect.
In short: Outstanding In full: This was a wonderful race helped by great weather. Although hilly in parts I still managed a PB having run very little recently so from my perspective it has PB potential. The organisation, scenery, atmosphere etc was great. If it could be improved it would be to silence the annoying and patronising announcer at the start and do away with the waste of time warm-up routine. A straighter entry to the stadium avoiding the sharp dogleg would also assist the final run in. Well done to the organisers though. I'll certainly do it again.
In short: Good race well organised In full: Snow and high wind made for a very challenging race especially as a long 4-5 mile stretch had the wind and snow directly in the runner's face. After that the up hill stretch close to the finish was a relief. Well organised good facilities. Very nice medal. It was a shame some of the children's fun runs were cancelled. In short: Challenging but very enjoyable In full: "Undulating" is something of an understatement! The weather was also challenging on the higher exposed sections. However a brilliant race. Will definitely do it again and try to better my time, but this is not the race to attempt a 10M PB! Good food afterwards. Date of review: March 5, 2007
