In short: Overton 5
In full: This course is deceptive.
The ascents and descents are quite steep but are short so, although it seems tough to handle, you can run a PB in this race - just keep the faith and it works out. The 4th mile is very slow but the 5th mile is very quick.

In short: Totton 10k
In full: The water station at 6k was too late in the heat ( and I'm a sub 40 runner so I don't know what it was like for those who had to go longer in the heat ). Most people suffered significantly so it's a shame there wasn't a re-think on the day and another station put at 3k for the unusual conditions.
Also, having the station at exactly 6k meant I couldn't get my split time.
Otherwise, the organisation was excellent, as I expected, and the momento is beautiful.

In short: Chichester 10k
In full: Well chosen route and location. Very convenient and easy course for speed.
Published times could have been more accurate though.

In short: Stubbington 10k
In full: Only a genius at pedantry could find fault with this race.
If you've trained hard for a 10k, this race will reward you for your efforts. It's a course for people who want to run a "time" and feel unharrassed throughout.

In short: Hayling 10 - flat but can be windy
In full: Main criticism was it was tedious queueing for drink after the race. It should have been faster because many will have significant dehydration, especially the slower runners out for longer. If you decide you need more then you have to queue all over again.

In short: Denmead 10k
In full: Lack of distance markers ( again ) made life very difficult for those with any sort of target.
The undulating course could be confusing for those trying to optimise their pace. Sometimes it's hard to tell what gradient you're on because of the continuous subtle variations.

In short: Arundel Castle 10k 2006
In full: Starts on tarmac with a short steep hill soon converting to a gradual slope up to about 4.5k. Then rutted grass track including a short, very steep descent progressing to level. Then about 7.5k a steep uphill which needs to be allowed for in the earlier pacing. Last 1k or so level and very steep downhill tarmac finishing straight ( you might find it hard to stop ). You need to know all the gradients to get this one right so I hope I've helped with this.
