In short: I was one of the unlucky ones doing the 2 lap race :-(
In full: It looked like everybody doing the one lap got on fine. However for us poor souls who braved the 2 lap version things went from bad to worse. Most of use completed one FULL lap okay. However I passed 2 females who were running the same race as me, but who were going half my speed. They had missed the river section on the 1st lap?!!! The whole race then missed the large fields and wooded section due to poor marshalling. I was also sent down to the tunnel even though it was stated that we didn't do it on the 2nd lap, loosing me about 1 min. Just looked at organisors web site and no sign of an apology for the mess up. This is really annoying as I have ran the 2 previous races and thought they were great. Stick to 1 lap next time or better prepar your marshalls. I had trained all through the winter in preperation for 16 miles, imagine how annoying it is when you only get between 12-13 miles? Also the after race food seems to be dropping in standard, 1st race a great bean and veg stew, this timea small cup of soup. To sum it up, an absolutely great race if you do one lap. You take a great chance on competing in the 2 lap version.

In short: Great running this again, liked the changes from last year, signed up to the 16 miler in March!
In full: I liked that there was no map of the course, good to get a suprise. The dog of the lead at the start was a pain, I think it knocked some runners over, (dog owners, keep them on a lead). I heard a few people lost the course at times, a few more marshalls at key points was the only down side of a very well organised race. The band was a very pleasant addition and made me smile. More man made obstacles please. I'll keep coming back for my rocks, two look lonely!

In short: This venue is used for a lot of different races and it was nice to see a slight modification to the course.
In full: There was no storage for personnel belongings. Some of the K markers where way out, (2 min 30 secs k)! Course would have benefited with some more marshalls at key points. Maybe an earlier start would make dealing with the heat a bit easier, and also encourage other runners to compete. 11.00am start time eats into your day. Great goody bag at the end, and the medal was one of the best I have recieved. With a few tweaks this could be a great race.

In short: Fast, flat, massage, bbq, what more do you want?
In full: Great flat course, just lacking slightly behind a road race for great pb potential. Nice that the weather held out. Will be back next year with the family to take full advantage of the BBQ etc.

In short: More hilly than I was led to believe, atmosphere more than made up for the pain!
In full: Directions from a little further out would be useful. It was only once you were very near the race that you found signs. Great organisation otherwise. The marshalls were excellent and its was great to see them prepared to brave what could have been a very wet evening. The mug was a nice touch, much better than a t-shirt that gets dumped in the wardrobe. Thanks for an enjoyable evening, (if painful)!!

In short: I knew about the hill, but it was still a suprise how steep it was. Wind in your face all the way up definately did not help. A good race back after three weeks out with an injury and felt that I would have run a pb if it was a flat course.

In short: Don't be caught out by the fast, flat course. I blew up half way round on my way to a PB. Shame about the wind! Excellent support from the locals.
