In short: Good fast race with the odd spot of music en route!
In full: A great course, with the first half undulating. Each incline was immediately followed by a decline allowing you time to recover. The second half was virtually flat. A good mix of runners. Particularly enjoyed the musical interlude and the bagpipes based at the start/finish which helped motivate me that last half mile. However was disappointed with the technical t-shirt. Even though it's a small, it's large and shapeless and unlikely to be worn. However, this doesn't detract too much from a great run, even if there was a freak hail storm halfway through!

In short: Beautiful scenery
In full: Having read other reviews I now realise my gps wasn't wrong and we did run further than thought which makes me feel much better about my time. Beautiful scenery but felt the rest of the race was a disappointment. The goody bag at the end was pointless; nothing in it! I also felt totally discouraged with the course which just seemed endless in either direction. When it narrowed, it became very busy and a struggle to get past people. Perhaps they could try funneling at the beginning if they want to continue have larger numbers of runners. Beautiful run but otherwise, big disappointment, and no t-shirt! For £30+ I felt it lacked a lot.

In short: Hills, hills and more hills but spectacular scenery!
In full: This was my first go at the Obelisk, and what a way to start the new year! Personally, I found it a long slog, but the hills weren't quite as bad as first thought. Managed to miss the obelisk, not sure how but did! Mostly uphill on the way to the obelisk and downhill on the way back. In hindsight thoroughly enjoyed it!

In short: A Christmas Challenge
In full: First time I've done this race, gather it was a new course, but loved every minute of it. Unexpectedly, the sun was out after a week of rain. The tracks were muddy, but all added to the race. Plenty of challenging climbs, but all followed by plenty of downhills. Atmosphere was great. Loved it and would definitely do it again.

In short: Challenging but great run
In full: Second time I've done this run, and still just as exhilirating. They've tweaked the start, making it much faster. The hills throughout are still challenging, but make for good stories when you compar ehow many people you walked past, or how many of the local residents offered you jelly babies!

Although somewhat hilly, it wasn't too far off my PB so I'm sure it can be done! Would definitely do this run again, and the t-shirt and medal certainly help add to the feeling of euphoria at having completed it!

In short: A challenging but exhilirating run!
In full: This race converted me from a road runner to a trail runner. The hills are certainly challenging and not for the faint hearted, but the camaraderie and challenge of running for 'your county' really added to atmosphere. Will definitely do this again, and will certainly be entering the 10 miler in January!

In short: Flat race for a hilly city!
In full: Used to the usual hilly half-marathon, this much flatter, shorter race was a welcome breeze! It was their inaugral run, and they ran it like clockwork. Scenery is not spectacular, but it's a fast route with PB potential; a rarity in a hilly county.
