In short: Lovely little race - great newbie event
In full: Flat as pancake, traffic free, friendly local race. Nice race for newbies but also PB potential for faster peeps. My second year with this race. Would do it again. :-)

In short: Do it for fun but not as a race
In full: You can't really class this as a race according to the above scores. I ticked PB potential "quick" as the course is pancake flat but the problem is you cant actually run properly unless you start right at the front. I know I know its all for charity and shouldn't grumble, but why oh why do people who can't run for 200 metres start at the "running start" instead of the "walking start"? There were people holding hands with 6-year old children in the middle at the front of the running start. With all the weaving and zigzagging around peeps I must have done 7k instead of 5k? Do it for a laugh if you enjoy mass-participation fun runs, if not just give your tenner to charity.

In short: Nice enough race
In full: It's a nice enough little race. Its for charity. Its local. Its not spectacular in terms of views, I mean this is Barry we're talking about. Despete the relatively large field, most of the roads weren't closed. That means that most of the running is done on pavements or cycle paths with no more than two peeps running next to each other, with often little opportunity to overtake safely. Running under the bridge leading up to the bridge peeps were running single file, so if you are chasing a PB start at the front!! Also no race photography which I thought was a bit of a missed opportunity. Updating of the website also dragged a bit. Altogether a nice enough race and its for a good cause.

In short: It wasn't easy!! ;-))
In full: What was I thinking picking a blistering rainy icy Sunday for my first ever cross country?? I've got to say honestly with such a small field of hardcore peeps I nearly soiled myself at the start with panic but everyone was lovely!! If this is "undulent" then what does hilly look like?? LOL. When I finished I had blue lips and I was abolutely soaked, but rarely have I felt so chuffed to finish a race. Scenery would have been gotgeous had the weather not bee so bad. Its obvious how much effort and love has gone into organising the race. Thanks to all the marshalls that has something positive to say when I trotted past groaning "tell me this is almost over!?". Thank you especially to the one who said "you've got 500 metres left" - you made my day!! Thanks to Cathy's daughter and her mate who were handing out t-shirts and all the cadets. Sure you could have thought of better things to do with your day than stand in rain and wind for these nutters running around in this ridiculous weather. I'd definetely do it again. xxx

In short: My first half
In full: Great atmosphere, beginner friendly, slow enough at the back, not easy though but maybe that's just me, not a fan of 2-lap races.

In short: Nice enough race
In full: Good markers. Nice stewards. Route a little claustrophobic at times but still ok to get around people. Not that much of an atmosphere as very few spectators but the freezing wind may have something to do with that. Overall ok.

In short: Friendly race
In full: Flat course. Fun atmosphere and broad range of runners. Very beginner friendly. Friendly marshalls but some confusion where 5k and 10k runners went different ways. Two laps got a little boring, but unsupervised toddlers, sausage dogs and other obstacles kept it interesting. Steep entry fee but all for a good cause. Overall would do it again.

In short: Good laugh, Very friendly
In full: Its for a good cause (British Heart Foundation). A lap in the park. Nothing demanding. Do it for a laugh! The aerobics session for a warm up was a scream with 500 Santas doing the grapevine.
