In short: Hills, mud and rain
In full: Did this in 2007 but had blotted it from my memory, so couldn't remember a thing about it. I did have an uneasy feeling at the mention of Butser Hill though...

It's a tough race, especially with so much claggy mud, but the marshalls are absolute stars, as were the gals in pink mentioned previously. Jet washing the feet was a cracking idea too.

Excellent cake!

In short: It wasn't as bad as it was last year...
In full: Another excellent event. Whilst the entry fee isn't cheap, the goodie bag and tech t-shirt make it reasonable value for money. Was more enjoyable this year due to the slightly less dramatic conditions, although I'm still glad to have experienced last year's hellish proportions.

Makes the Hellrunner's Bog of Doom look like a bit of a puddle...

In short: Another cracking race
In full: Did this last year for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the fact it's on Remembrance Sunday and the two minute silence before setting off. The marshalls are all very friendly and cheerful - the jelly beans were marvellous.

Great race and I'd highly recommend it.

In short: Mud and fun, with the cheeriest marshalls yet
In full: This is a cracking race - thoroughly enjoyed it. The marshalls and supporters were first class and the organisation was excellent.

Definitely one to put in the diary for next year.

I'm sure it was a tad more than 8.5 miles though...

In short: 33 miles is a very long way...
In full: Hard going but very good. Cheery, friendly marshalls for whom this must've been a very long day. Route description spot on, as were the distances (according to my Garmin). Scenery was great, weather was perfect. Couldn't ask for any more (except to be fitter). Furthest distance I've run yet (with a soupcon of walking).

In short: Cor, do I ache!
In full: This was my first adventure race and it was marvellous. Organisation was first class and the weather was wonderful. Highly recommended.

In short: Nice run through potentially pleasant scenery (if the fog had lifted)
In full: A nice race to finish the year. My only real criticism is the lack of signage on the local roads for those (like me) who had never been to Somerley before. We spent about a half hour driving around before we accidentally found the golf course entrance.

In short: What an event to pick as a first marathon...
In full: Having done the half last year as my first half marathon, it seemed only fitting to do the full Clarendon as my first ever marathon. The organisation at the start and during the race was good, with encouraging marshalls and bags being delivered. I didn't have the same problem as many on here as I wasn't fast enough to be running into the half marathoners, so no queues at stiles for me. The scouts did do a good job regards baggage, but the queueing for medal/t-shirt is ridiculous. Given the price of the event, surely each competitor could be given a medal AND a t-shirt.

In short: I'd forgotten that hill at 4k...
In full: Nice local race and well organised. Nasty hill at 4k though and you've got to dig slightly deep to find the energy to sprint uphill to the finish.

In short: Cracking little 2 lap race
In full: Thoroughly enjoyed this race - marshalls cheery and the locals were encouraging. Undid all the good work by stuffing a cheeseburger down my throat afterwards.
