In short: Could have been a wonderful race but let down seriously by lack of marshals
In full: I ran the Marathon and my wife ran the Half Marathon both of which shared the same tracks for the first 13 miles.Unfortunately most of the field missed the first turn into the forest,so not a great start.I quite enjoyed the Marathon but my wife got totally lost with the repeat laps and I passed her 3 miles before the end of the first half in quite a state and very upset.A severe hill at mile 24 to 26 was a bit cruel but the course was genrally very pictureque.Would need clarification that the marshalling was going to be a lot better before I would run it again.

In short: You could tell that a running club helped in this race but those HILLS !!!
In full: Did the Eden Marathon two weeks after the Tenby Marathon which I thought was hilly, but boy it was pancake flat in comparison to Cornwall.Never had to walk so much in a Marathon not sure if that was tired legs from the previous one or the hills or the lack of pasta the night before which was my only gripe of the whole event. The Marshalls and route markers, water stops, the after race meal etc etc everything was brilliant but the pasta party left me feeling cheated. This was my first past party so I did not really know what to expect, for £7.00 I expected more than one canteen plate of mediocre wet pasta no drink no bread that was it !!!I asked if I could have a second helping of the pasta and was told no only one helping,I had held back all day to enjoy filling up that night and in the end had to go to Tesco and buy some food to ease my hunger pangs.I am very slight in case you think I am a Billy Bunter so do not have a huge apetite. Will definitely return for the run but past party was a rip off.

In short: So much potential, probably should have running club cosultation make it great,
In full: The cardiff Marathon as it was in 2004 was my first marathon with it being two loops of the half marathon course.Have run it every year since as I have affection to the run as it was my first marathon. So pleased to get a PB this year and then gutted to find the course was short,at least my Garmin isn't faulty !! Wonder whether the idea of getting more runners each year is going to work unless the organizers stop listening to the accountants and more to running clubs.I am not going to winge on most of it was very good but with the milleniun stadium so close why cant the event finish in there,it use to in 2004/2005.You have a building purpose made to accomodate a very large number of people so all the congestion at the present end would be eliminated and offer a huge prestige finish to the runners, bring back the full marathon option as well !!

In short: Brilliant to Have a Marathon so close to home again.
In full: Beautiful scenery and virtually traffic free course made this a most enjoyable marathon. There were are few problems that other people have highlighted, too many twists and turns, sole destroying run past finish at mile 20 etc and if there was a bigger field there would be a lot of clashing without some changes.but considering it was the first time for this event it went exeptionally well. I particularly liked the water in sports bottles but having run quite a number of races thought the medal at the end was very tacky.Having run 14 marathons to date this is by far the cheapest momento and belongs in a cracker.Sorry !!!

In short: A reasonably quick course but with very little crowd support although those that were there were really encouraging, pity the marshals didn't share their enthusiasm as one or two had a quite agressive manner as if they resented us being there. m
In full: I believe this was a new run last year when it included an ultra. The course has no really bad inclines although due to it being multi-lap they seemed to get harder with each circuit. The race starts for 4 miles in a residential area and then branches off for a 3 circuit lap just over 7 miles each in the countryside with a further 1 mile branch at the finish.Due to the rural setting there was very little crowd support which was to be expected as there is only a relatively small entry at present. The few supporters were very encouraging however, but it was obvious that the marshals were not runners as they were quite rude and seemed to resent us being there in the first place. The finish was 2 miles from the start which meant that most of us had to wait for transport back to our cars, although in fairness to the organisers a bus was laid on for the return. No goody bag at the end but a very nice glass block engraved momento.Would have appreciated a banana/apple/mars bar or something however whilst waiting for the bus.

In short: My wife and I ran the pontypridd reverse 10 this year.My wife's first try at this event but she was made very welcom
In full: I have run the Ponty reverse 10 a couple of times before as it is selected by my club the Brackla harriers as one of the annual club runs. The extra few miles to the usual 10k make this a more challenging run at speed. My wife joined me in this run this year as she has recently taken up running, She was very impressed with the very kind marshalls who were not at all clubby and who welcomed her on the run even though she was one of the last to finish, she still had a great welcome at the end.

In short: An excellent half marathon in a windy but scenic location
In full: This was my first time running this particular half marathon and it is definitely one I would do again.Chip timing meant a smooth start and the course had different sections giving an interesting but not too challenging course. There is a keen wind due to its coastal location and had it rained on the day may have found the course a little exposed but you can't have scenery and shelter can you.I managed a PB on the day so I was chuffed with the run.
