In short: Challenging trail run over an interesting course In full: A single loop trail run with significant hills; tracks through woods, along ridges, across ploughed fields, over grassland and stubble. Minimal road - just at crossing points. Never boring and great views.
I was put off initially by 2 sides of A4 wordy instructions we were told to carry - not good for a half marathon. But as it happened, the course was well marked and the marshalls were excellent. Great tea and cakes at the finish.
Only downside was one single water station at 8.5 miles. I think this should have been at half way, or we should have known in advance how late on it would be. It would have been useful to have seen a published profile of the route beforehand to help with pacing.
But all in all, I would do this again because of the interesting course. Date of review: September 24, 2012

In short: Out and back along the Thames and surrounding fields In full: Great course across trails to the river and then along the bank, before a loop around Remenham. Obstacles included some narrow gateways, 3 footbridges (each way) and a kissing gate. But all good fun and hardly slowed the runners. Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre provided a great base - but negatives included long queues for toilets and a cramped carpark with a single lane exit. The end of the lane should have been marked as no entry after it was full as cars were still turning down it when people were trying to leave. Date of review: March 26, 2012
