In short: The best race in the country
In full: I love this marathon and it is a firm favourite. This is my fourth year running it and it just gets better. It's challenging and through beautiful countryside. The organisation is second to none. I love it!!

In short: Lovely course and well organised
In full: I've done plenty of half marathons but never this one. Thoroughly enjoyed it even though I didn't run particularly well. Organisation was superb especially the ladies in the baggage area. Some marshalls could have been a bit more enthusiastic but this was amde up for by the locals in the village just before the end who gave us a well needed cheer. Perhaps a goodie bag or at least a cereal bar or banana to go with the water at the end would have been nice. Nice to get a medal though rather than some gimmicky bag/t-shirt/water bottle which I will never use. Definitely will race again.

In short: Potentially a PB course minus the wind!
In full: This is the third time I have done the Folkestone 10mile race and the organisation is very good with some lovely encouraging marshalls. I liked the medal at the end. Far too many races are trying too hard to come up with alternative mementos that just get binned! Well done for sticking to medals. However, I would have expected more for my money such as a goody bag. Overall though I can't complain!

In short: A hilly, challenging course but overall a very well organised race.
In full: However, even though there were some lovely, encouraging marshalls especially the last two miles some of the paired marshalls completely ignored the runner and were having a lovely chat to each other! Another moan I'm afraid..... the runners worls descrption mentioned a good bag... what goody bag. For £14 all I got was a rucksack which was a little disappointing.
After all that moaning I have to say that the pre-race orgnaisation was superb. Plenty of people around to help and bagagge and chip collection was highly organised and easy to work out! Ladies at the end of the race removing chips were also lovely and helpful.

In short: MUD, MUD and more MUD
In full: A fantastic race. No pressure for time, we dress up every year and have a laugh. This is what running is about not obssessing over PB times. Much better organisation this year as I actually got a goody bag which they had run out of last year. The bog of doom was even colder than last year but the lake seemed more shallow. Excellent marshalls and it was nice of the organisers to delay the start of the second race while 20 or so nuns were making it to the finish!

In short: I just get slower every year but still love it!
In full: Nightmare weather still didn't dampen my enthusiasm for this race. It's the third yaer in a row I have completed it and love it. It's so well organised and when you can actually see it through the mist and lashings of rain the scenery is glorious.

In short: From Nice Work what did I expect???
In full: I have only done one Nice Work race about three years in Canterbury and was unimpressed. I tried not to let this fact tar my view of the Lydd half. However, I don't have many positive comments to say about this race. Lack of water staions. One to be precise in the same place there and back run by two poor voulnteers who couldn't keep up. I have to stand and wait for water on the way out and on the way back they had run out of water!!! This happened in Canterbury as well at the end of the race. Surely you know how many runners are running and would therefore factor in your organisation enough water. Marshalls were few and far between and offered no encouragement what so ever. The only bit of encouragement came from two ladies who were obviously with a runner. A boring route..... Lack of drink in the goody bag. No proper start or finish line and where was the race clock? If you want to know how to organise a road race come to a Thanet Road Runner event or Deal Tri who both put on amazing events.Needless to say I doubt I will run another nice work race again unless the orgnaisation is seriously sorted out.

In short: Lovely countryside with playful hills but a nasty second half with too much traffic
In full: A lovely course. Interesting enough but not too difficult. Potentially a PB course (I was one min outside mine)but the traffic on the second half needed to be sorted out. Too many cars parked on the already narrow pavement causing runners to run onto a very busy road. The marshals did their best to control the traffic and made it as safe as possible. Army helpers were excellent with the water at the end and around the course. Excellent changing facilities and toilets. Nice goody bag with milkshake, medal and water bootle (always handy as I am forever loosing mine).

In short: A freezing cold day but such a fun time to be had by all
In full: A very challeging race and I am glad I did it as a time. It was cold waiting for my cyclist to finish so I could the last leg of running. But the last leg of running was worth the wait. It was such good fun. An interesting cross country with plenty of surprises including a very deep dyke and lots of hills to keep your interest. Would love to do this again! Excellent goody bag, a medal and sweater. An expensive race but at least the goody bag was worth it.

In short: I loved it because I go a PB!!!
In full: A well organised race with plenty of very helpful marshalls. Dicey in parts with crossing the busy roads but again helped by the friendly marshalls. Lots of road side support. Horrible last couple of miles across
the beach but still managed a PB. I'm happy!! :-)
