In short: Not the best - sort out the toilets! In full: Despite turning up in pleanty of time, I didn't want to risk missing the start so didn't wait in massive toilet que and ended up needing the loo before I even set off. Ended up starting so late that I could've well gone and was fuming!
Decided I'd have to wait until the half way toilets but didn't see any - did anyone else? Had to come off the route and queue for toilets in the Sefton Park cafe with loads of others but after 4 minutes with no one moving, I had to set off again. Ended up having to pee in the bushes in Otterspool park - something I never thought I'd have to do but needs must!
All the messing about left me really demoralised and even though I still managed a new PB, I know I could've done much better so ended up disappointed.
Having done a few other half marathons and loads of other races, I felt this one was a bit disorganised. Had to scramble over chains and fences and under guy ropes and all kinds to get there. No one knew where they were going - everyone was just milling round aimlessly. I know the routine with loo's and queing and faffing but this one was just too much.
And the end? Twenty minute wait to get large t-shirt (all that was left) and a "goody bag" containing a single loo roll - which - after the experience I'd had was a bit of an insult.
Not the greatest.
Lovely route though and definately a potential for a very fast run.

In short: Killer headwind but great sense of achievement at the end In full: First 5k into extraordinary headwind. Felt like crying - still, made the second half feel like a breeze! Didn't help that it was just along a flat unchanging landscape - was convinced that the pier just kept moving further away! Still - all of that can't be helped.
Adrian went to real trouble to fit us in at the very last minute and we were really grateful.
The marshalls were fab - especially having to stand there in that weather - they must have been freezing. The organisation and value for money were exceptional.
No PB this time, but definate potential. We'll be back to do it again.
Thanks guys!

In short: Loved it again :) In full: Did the GNR in 2009 to "celebrate" my 40th birthday. Miles 10 to 12 are murder for us plodders - could have slapped myself at times for putting myself through it again. And of course, when I fell over the finish line after two and a half hours I swore blind that I'd never do it again. But the GNR is like giving birth - painful and hard but OH so worth it and I just know I'll be back again next year.
PS There are no friendlier people in the country than the ones who turn out to support that race - just makes the whole thing. Date of review: September 24, 2010

In short: Challenging thanks to the weather! In full: My friend and I *loved* this race. First 10k for both of us and we managed to keep going right to the end despite the weather! Great atmosphere - felt like we were really making a difference for Cancer Research. We were towards the back and could see a stream of people ahead in the t-shirts - brought a lump to your throat! We're *so* proud of ourselves today - if you're reading this to see whether to run this race in the future, go for it! Date of review: September 25, 2006
